Default Series 2 d reg

Hi all just recently got myself a d reg series 2 that Ive started restoring, does anyone on here know anything about D202 FUE as I never got a huge amount of history with the car but couldn't pass up the opportunity of an escort turbo having wanted one since a teenager, I have my work cut out but am determined to get it sorted, here are some of the things I've got to contend with, typical d reg ford but will get done

As someone who had a c-reg Escort the best thing I can recommend is to get the shell completely stripped and then dipped/blasted.

if there is enough of a car left, then you will see what you have to work with (guarantee you not a lot left).

Honestly though, IMO I would use the good bits and find something else as you will be forever chasing rust round that shell. It will be in the seams, inside box sections and the roof will be shot, along with the chassis legs and a-pillars.

Been there, got the t-shirt.......

Shame to see that amount of rust but hope you have good luck with it. Keep us updated with how you get on.

Thanks for the advice mate but if I'm honest I'd rather try and get it done as its the genuine shell I'd rather keep it like that, I'm in no rush but the achievement at the end will be worth it imo

Yeah I know mate but to be honest you see it on a lot of them now unless they've already been restored, believe it or not this was motd in May with no advisories, everything was covered up with p40 and black silicone stuff, and some of the patches welded in the floor were horrendous, I'll try and get a restoration thread going on here

Your going to need a donor car for same of the panel. Dont think your can buy the A pillers new and roof and front chassie rails. It will save loads of time in the long run. Trust me making plates up to patch panels in gets alittle tiring and will take up most of your time. Make sure you weld reinforment bars in everywhere to keep the body straight because your going to do loads of chopping. I thought mine was bad and im changing every panel almost. So i wish you all the best.
