Default Is the series 2 becoming a rare car now?

Hello it's been same time since I last been on here. I us to own a 90spec series 2 about 10 years ago. It was a great car full of problems but fun to drive. I us to live in Essex and moved to Sweden about 7 years ago to be with my now wife. I have recently got hold of another series 2 that very very rusty and very badly repaired before. Here in Sweden it's a rare car but I have been looking for parts online because I need almost everything and I'm a bit blown away how hard it is to get parts now. I dont even see many pictures of them at car meets and shows. Just out of interest I took random 30 regs from the show us your series 2 page and put them into the DVLA reg finder and only 3 had recent tax and mot. Most have been sorn for years or are dead. Just a little sad to see. Are they becoming that rare now?

Nah not rare at all IMO. Most are just garaged and don't get used. Parts are available (assume your talking 2nd hand rather than brand new/NOS as the latter is simply stock depletion over 30years) but all with RS tax which then in itself stops people being able to use them more often because it costs Ł400 for a window seal etc

I think most parts I'm going to us will probably be second hand. This car is such bad shape the only panel I'm not changing is where the spare wheel kept. Really a shell change should be done but most mk4 escorts here in sweden are rotten as well or convertible. Im just looking to make it a nice running safe solid motor again. The engine seems ok. Just needs all new gaskets, belts, service etc. The guy put nice set of 17 inch rims on. I dont know the brand name but he didn't change the standed shocks or springs. He just put shit load of rubber blocks inbetween the spring coils to try stop them rubber. But didn't work so he hacked at the arches with a angle grinder to try stop the rubbing but still didn't work. He didn't shut the bonnet properly as well and it opened up on him and smashed the screen, roof, skuttle, bonnet and hinges. So need to change all them. The list of things I need to change and do gos on and on. This car had a very hard life but my wife and kids love it more then me so let the restoration begin.
