Default Blacktop Zetec - 232BHP

Hi all
I have myself a N/A 232BHP blacktop in my Westfield.

Hungry for some more BHP. Options are
Turbo the blacktop
Either remove all the engine modifications on the current blacktop and turbo
Buy a crated new blacktop to turbo

Supercharge the blacktop
I can leave the majority of the engine mods I believe

Different engine completely, like a 2.0 duratec

I am after around 300bhp. Not sure the best way to get it from the option above. Any suggestions or ideas?

I was thinking of supercharging it but I am not sure how achievable 300bhp will be. Anyone here done a supercharger on a blacktop.

Thanks
Nick

Not sure I would turbocharge personally, not unless it was super linear. A big torque hit from a laggy turbo would surely make it a nightmare to drive. Duratec would have some advantages, as it's alloy block, so would make the car lighter and faster for the same output.

What's the spec of the Zetec to get 230bhp?

Thanks for the reply. I was worried about a turbo which is why I looked at a supercharger.

Moving to a duratec would mean manifold and exhaust move sides since the zetec exists on the passenger, anything else would move to the driver's side

I was looking at a Honda k20 engine. Same issues but standard, they hit 240bhp

My spec is
  • Head ported and polished by CNC heads and matched with their specification cam. Following this link ( http://www.cncheads.co.uk/?p=755 ) takes you to the website the tuner provides on this head and cam combination for more info, extrapolating the power claims CNC make ( 215bhp @ 6400rpm and 247 bhp @ 8200rpm) to the 7500rpm limit on this car fairly accurately supports the claimed power output on this engine.
  • Arrow engineering buckets
  • ARP rod bolts
  • Balanced and polished crank
  • Standard Zetec flywheel machined and lightened by CNC Heads
  • Raceline sump
  • Omex 600 ECU
  • Jenvey throttle bodies
  • Bosch green injectors
  • Simpson Race Exhausts aluminium manifold 4 into 2 into 1

honda k20 engine
k24 bottom end with k20 head

a completely standard k20 with cams/itb's will do 270bhp depending on exhaust

Turbo engine for 300bhp is super easy and lots of parts off original cars engine like inlets can be used , super charger is good but can be very expensive to buy and setup correctly.
black top engine
pistons and rods if you can afford and you've got 500 bhp bottom end
erst exhaust manifold
rs 1800 inlet manifold
injectors
standard head with updated valve springs
intercooler
turbo
and your easily gonna be around 300 bhp

cheers paul
