Just seen this on eBay as I was browsing about
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COSWORTH-YB-650HP-ENGINE-PREPARATIONS-LAST-SPEC/322802707315?hash=item4b288a6b73:g:sswAAOSwnNBXVXg L
I was expecting to see a Smith and Jones 2.2 for that money

It seems pricey, perhaps more so as they still want a core.
But they seem to be offering a complete running package ( aside from fuel pump etc ).
Of course there would be many ways to achieve it at lower cost, but it probably isnt totally unreasonable. Would be nice to see a new crank in there too though given the price they're asking.

I just can't see where £26k is standard crank and service exchange basis

Same here, I would have thought unless something special was included then it could be done for less including labour

Labour to assemble, harder to say. There are those who would simply throw an engine together ( and would probably live for a very long time ) and there are others who would be very anal about every last detail...of which consumes a lot of man hours.
And the government stealing 22% of every single part, and every single hour....is just ridiculous ( Italy 22% VAT rate )
But sure if they can actually get it...fair play to them. There probably is a market somewhere in Europe, otherwise they wouldnt be offering it. The more sources for parts etc the better.
