Default RS Turbo restoration

Hi All

Thought I'd share my first ever restoration with you that I've been doing for the past 3 years. The car started as a lowish mileage G plate car that was an honest car that needed some work. I bought it as below where someone had the intentions of doing it but gave up part way through.
Initially my plans were to paint it myself as I had never painted a car before and just have a tidy car for messing about in.

So here she is when I bought her

When she was nearly finished

So lets begin, some more of when I got the car

After an initial inspection all appeared good, a solid car that retained it's original panels, no major rust and no signs of any damage. So the strip down for paint begins

Started to sand it down and make some small repairs where needed. I made a make shift booth and bought a devilbiss paint gun and had a go

Not too bad for a noob. This gave me the confidence to tackle the rest of the car. My thoughts were " well if it goes wrong I'll pay to have it painted "

I was happy with the results, a few runs but overall really good IMO. So time to put bits back on

So after painting the outside, I decided to do the underside. I purchased a spit for Ł100.00 and made a start stripping off parts which led to hours of sanding with a wire wheel, priming and painting

After the underneath was completed I turned my attention to the boat anchor in the front. Full strip down and inspection which revealed no issues, so all new gaskets and a lick of paint

Best of luck with your restoration job. Fair play to you for spraying that car for your first time with a spray gun. It looks good in the photos. Must look better in the flesh.
