Default Sierra RS500 Shock Absorbers questions

Hello all,

I recently bought a set of Bilstein Shock absorbers with the Graham Goode standard height Spring set. However once fitted the front sits lower than the stock Motorcraft shocks and also
i am encountering large amount of shock bottoming, so whenever i hot a small bump the spring fully compress.

I ended up putting the stock springs back with the bilstein but the change was very minimal and the car sit less than 5mm higher which i found weird. anyone experienced the same issues here and any help will be appreciated

Thanks

I am waiting for their reply but i am pretty sure it is not normal. Because the shocks bottom up even when i do some sprinted drives

Are there any different in length for the 4x4 shocks? Any chance i got the 4x4 or they won't fit in at all at the first place?

I know some people used 2wd hubs on 4wd cars so I think the shocks could be swapped. It does sound very odd.

The 4x4 shocks are thicker and won't fit the 2wd hubs. An other option would be is that they are standard (non Cosworth) Sierra struts. But that also seems unlikely as those are actually longer than 2wd Cosworth struts.

You don't have the old Motorcraft shocks anymore to compare with the Bilsteins?
You also shouldn't have them bottoming on new shocks on small bumps. Perhaps the shocks are not even for a Sierra but for a completely different car (that is lighther as well). Perhaps you can check the Bilstein part number to see if they are the correct part.

Hello, I checked again and my mechic said the shock fit in without any issues. However comparing to the MC shocks he mentioned the travel is longer and the springs stay on the bottom sits lower. Hence the oem springs are too short in this case

it doesn’t feel right because the car is too low for me and I struggle to go anywhere with any slopes. Also it feels like o have max 1-2inches of travel before the shocks hits the top . I got a few pictures on how the car sits now
