Default What turbo???

Hi guys !!! Need some advice.

Im from Cyprus and just got back from the dyno with my series 2 Rs turbo. The car is running Efi,, cosworth green injectors, Accralite pistons Fardon rods, Aem water methanol. Turbo was a T34 hybrid Yes ... Was Car was doing well around 240bhp at 1.2 bar when puff of white smoke came out the exhaust... I'm assuming the turbo wasn't up for the job, as it is the only thing I bought used from ebay.

So.... What kind of turbo should I be after? Was thinking a stage 3 T3 from Burtons but have heard bad comments about them.

Please advice what I should be looking for and from where. Boost will be 1 bar with no meth, and 1.5-1.8 with the Meth.

Thanks !!!!!!!

Go for one of the modern Garrett or borgwarner, the t3 is a very old turbo.

My tuner refers to my T3 as the antique.

The gt28 has been used for a long time in the Vw world and is well respected but with many Chinese copies so be careful of tha eBay bargain.

i believe there may be a twin scroll turbo smaller than the efr 7064 as that would be too big for the power you want, it may be worth asking Mark Shead as that would be a huge benefit but suspect it will cost a lot and maybe not go small enough. The Borg efr is quite a moder turbo.

Hey Mark.

Thanks for your opinion.

Do share what you think. I believe the car had a Aet hybrid T34. Either it was faulty due to being used or had an oil feeding problem. Oil pump is a high pressure unit but the car had no oil restrictor to the turbo. Maybe that's why it went poooooof!?

Do you think the Honeywell turbo unit will be enough with cossie greens? Power around 300hp @1.6-1.8 bar

Since my TT Engine needs a rebuild I have been looking at turbos that the VAG world use and it seems that the standard turbo on a TFSI 265 spec engine is used by a lot of the runners on the 20v engine as a cheap option for 300 to 380 bhp.

I expect Mr Shead can sell you a correctly designed manifold and correct spec Borg Warner but you would need to call him as he is not a trader on here.
