Solid Lifter/Tappet Adjustment
What's the procedure for setting solid adjustable lifters in a CVH?
I have a 1.9 CVH that a professional engine shop put a performance cam and solid lifters in, I can't remember what brand they are but they have an adjustable top screw in each of them.
Since Ford never used any (to my knowledge) the procedure for setting them up isn't in any Escort or CVH book of mine.......
I'll get around some pictures some time......

Ford used them as standard in RS1600i.
However, all brands are much a muchness (ford, kent, piper, newman etc)
Basic premise is you want the lifter at its lowest point on the lobe, then ensure the rocker arm is torqued correctly, the gap between rocker arm and lifter should be 0.008 IN, 0.010 EX (those are Newman lash specs, other brands will vary)
Its easy to do, just takes ages as you have to take everything off to then adjust the lifter each time till you get it perfect.

Alright, should I run down the lifter's screw before I set the rocker's torque or does it not matter?
I thought if you tightened the rocker down it would be tight to the lifter no matter what, maybe I'm wrong, I've only just started working on CVH heads....
I'm fine with doing tedious work on the heads, there's only 4 cylinders and 8 valves
