I would only do it if i had another job to go straight into.
Otherwise you will gain nothing because they payout will be used to live on while you (hopefully) find another job!
I was in the same situation afew years ago and decided it wasnt worth it.
Others on my shift left and took the money but have all since regretted it.

Weigh up the pros and cons.

Pros: You get some cash (but only get to keep it if you dont need to live on it)

Cons: 7 years of redundancy down the drain
Next job you get you will probably be bottom of the ladder, puts u more in the position of last in first out too.
You are a nobody at the new place, whereas now you have 7 years of being known there and hopefully respected lol

Are they paying you just the legal entitlement or putting anything extra on top?

Oh, and by the way, by law they have to give you about 3 letters over a certain time scale for redundancy, im not sure if its the same if its volentary, might be worth finding out. They may be trying to force you into a hurried decission

thing is, im not porgressing and i was supposed to move to a different area within the company and then when it was time to move, my manager said no... c*nt...

You could take the money and work on agencies to keep the cash rolling in while you find something else.
Dont spend the payoff till you get another job just incase you do need to use it for some reason. Then once you find something else look forward to splashing out

Realistically how much difference would paying off 2.6k make on a mortgage?
Spend it on something you will notice and enjoy!

Don't do it, but start looking for a job straight away, don't leave it another day, you'll only get stuck in the rut you're in and won't leazve. When you leave, your head will be high.

However, bear in mind that if you don't take the option, and get made redundant, you will be in a worse off position when looking for a job. At the end of the day, being made redundant SHOULD have nothing to do with your abilities, etc... unlike being fired, but, a prospective employer will always wonder why YOU were made redundant and not someone else, unless the whole company shut down that is.

No one can tell you what to do I am afraid, the decision as they say is yours.

Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

Just something to consider. Any Credit card/Morgage protection schemes may list "involuntary redundancy" as being OK. If you choose to jack it in. You may not get other bills paid.
