I had stuff zinc plated and it lasted only a few days before it tarnished. Powder coat is the way to go as this lasted underneath my other car very well. I think properly applied paint as per a bodshop works but Paint seems easier to chip.

Powdercoat for sure. Tho if it gets chipped it doesn't take long for the elements to get under it. Still the longest lasting coating I've had survive under mine

A mate of mine swears by Por15 products, he's used them a lot when he restored his xr2i, I've bought a few things myself but am yet to use it.

i coated the underside of my cossie with por15 anti corrosion but it was then topped off with a coat of diamond white raptor bedliner , seems good stuff but dont know how it would hold up with stone chips etc salt and general uk crap

The best would be to have it hot galv sprayed and then powder coated , as the hot galv coating is the same as dipping in galv so 20 + years and then the powder coating to make it look pretty , powder coat chips but so does paint so I would always go powder coat , just have it redone every 5 years

cheers paul
