Default Graham Goode fuel tanks

I’ve seen Graham Goode are selling replacement petrol tanks for Cosworth’s , has anyone fitted one or know someone using one , I want to know if they suffer with the same problems the other remakes have with fuel starvation under boost because of the swirl pots ...

the Graham Goode ones look like the eBay ones TBH
There certainly not ford or original ford spec last one I seen was £500
I’m just doing my fuel system now and looking at swirl pot with aftermarket tank
Be nice to hear from someone who’s fitted one of the latest GG tanks

doesent look like anyone hear has tried one , i dont want to buy one to have the same problem as the aftermarket ones ....

im goin aftermarket tank with swirl pot

Why not ask GGR.
Tell them you have a powerful car that sometimes goes on track and that you need to be sure the tank is as good if not Better than the original.
They know a thing or two about these cars

Messaged Graham Goode about their tanks and asked if they will suffer from surge issues like other after market tanks and they replied saying “most likely yes”. So in other words the tanks are the same as what other sellers have but with a whack of Graham Goode tax added on.

You could fit a undermount fuel swirl pot adam and run a second pump as a way around the problem maybe

AJC - thanks for the reply, have you pushed the car hard round corners yet?

James - Seems like my only option, mine has an aftermarket tank but has some dents and it quite dirty inside so I’m just gonna bin it and replace. Don’t know what spec of pump to use to pump from my tank to the swirl pot as I think a 044 is OTT as a feed pump

Fitting an after market one on mine was worse thing I did lol. I removed the ford one and fitted the aftermarket one I’d had aero quipped and it surged first time it came on boost. Mine now has a swirl pot in the boot.

Obviously mine was an after thought to fix a problem and all my fuel lines are -8 and -6 return. Mines good for 680. I’m not fussed how mine looks my only interest is how fast it will go and preform properly. Mine is fed by an 044 and a deatschwerks feeds the fuel rail.

Your setup looks good Andy I like the bulkhead fittings going down under the car, only two problems is one your losing your spare wheel well and some boot space.

My plan is to buy an aftermarket tank and fill it with this anti-surge foam, if it doesn’t work then I’ll have to bite the bull it and run a 2 pump swirl pot set up.

my only concern is the foam getting in the way of the fuel sender float, if I bought foam in large sqaure sheets I could stack them on top of each other and have a cutout for the fuel sender

Yeah I’ve 17 inch wheels so the spear was too small anyway so ditched it. There’s a ply bored that goes over the wheel well hole then the carpet and foam fits round as normal. My battery is in the boot as well in a carbon battery box. It’s all done neatly as I’m fussy but I can’t do the weekly shop in it anymore lol

Ive just bought the same tank as the ones Graham Goode stocks..and the tank has the swirl pot inside...which should mean that it does not suffer from the surging the older aftermarked tanks did.They came without the swirl pot/or baffle pot inside.the one i got..and the one from Graham Goode will come with one.That said..i dont know 100% on GG "s one will..BUT ..one thing is certain..my aftermarked tank has the swirl/baffle pot inside..AND the GG tank does have the same manufacturer stamp on the outside..so i reckon 99.99% it is the same tank.So you should be all good .Cheers from Norway,Stefan

Mine had a metal swirl in it that was not up too the job. The original ford tank plastic one was fine but the after market metal one was rubbish

All aftermarket tanks I’ve seen have had the metal pot inside, I’m 99% sure the ones GG are selling are just regular pattern part tanks, I bought mine from a local panel supplier for £72.

i emailed GG and asked if their tanks where just the same as the regular pattern part tanks and they says probably lol.

You should only get fuel starvation when turning left anyway but to be on the safe side I bought a swirl pot.

Mine surged its arse off as soon as I fitted it lol drove to work fine on the genuine tank. Off boost was fine but driven hard not a chance

Also the original ford tank has an internal mesh filter to stop crud getting to the pump, to I’m guessing it might be a good idea to add a high flow filter before the pump also.

This is the swirlpot setup I’m using, new 044 lift pump under the car feeding a 30 micron filter into the swirl pot then onto the DW350IL pump into a high flow filter ect

Thats good so I’m presuming the GG ones aren’t to bad then, I ordered one from another company about 7yrs ago and it was crap but luckily enough after sending it back I decided to pay the extra for the original ford one (must of been some of the last stock back then)

I spoke to GG and they said they would recomend adding an aftermarket swirpot if your running more then std BHP,
my tank has the aftermarket metal swirl pot so i will test it and see if i need to add further to it

From what I can see the bowl is taller making it harder for fuel to empty on tight corners, the aftermarket metal bowls look shallower and wider which doesn’t stand up to corners

The after market one i put in mine just had a metal ring round the fuel outlet. The ford one looks to have an inner and outer chamber far better design looking at it. My car drove to work fine then messed about first time i put some boost into it. Can’t remember fuel level but the standard tank never messed about

I have two fabricators making Intercoolers and baffled sumps and breather systems for me now and I need to mod a tank for two cars so need to start from a new tank so need to mod them so will end up offering a baffled tank.

Havent ran it yet mate as engine is out for rebuild, bought it off mark shead hopefully he can answer. Tbh I can’t see it being noisier than a 044 even though it flows allot more.

Thanks Mark,

Deatschwerks customer service steered me towards the 250IL as it's quieter than the 350IL and they claim it will flow 270 to 300 lph

I'm not running any boost on a 7 litre V8 that should make something over 500bhp if all goes to plan, do you think the 250 will be enough ?

Here is the insides of the fueltank i bought.Same as the grahamgoode ones..at least it has the same "branding writing" on the outside..so i do reckon it is the same.as many of these aftermarked ones advertised...seems to have the same "stamp/writing" on the outside.

It is going to depend on the Pressure you are using really.
The pumps are all about Flow vs Pressure.

Once we get to 500+ BHP I use the 350 as a rule.
