Default Digital dash options

Have been wanting to do something different with my dash dials (MK3 Escort), was thinking Astra GTE digital dash but i think finding one and a transponder that works would be an issue. I know i can buy a stack type dash but dont want to spend hundreds apon hundreds on it. I read somewhere that certain Fords (maybe Mondeos????) had digital dashes but cant find anything on it, anyone know if this can be done or have any info that might help?

Thanks in advance

Im not necessarily looking for something that just slots in and plug and play, looking for ideas or examples of whats been done. As i said, i do have a budget so not gonna go and buy a stack dash at a grand but dont mind wiring and modifying within reason

Its purely a show car/weekend car so would love something different within the original dash housing

really depends upon your budget.

you said earlier that you 'dont want to spends hundreds' - but....if you are going to go aftermarket ecu soon as well, you could consider MS3pro with shadowdash. the ecu does a huge amout of stuff and theres nothing comparable in terms of functions V cost. it has a blue tooth option which allows it to talk to any android and the shadowdash app allows you to design your on dash showing anything you want and in any layout and gauge style. there's lots already designed and freely available.also, the app datalogs everything going on too!

I considered a motor bike option before taking the route I did. But what put me off was the rpm range looking silly. When the scale go’s into the 14-15 thousands and the car only revs to 7 or 8 lol

I spent some money lol. But it dose link to my autronic ecu. So I’ll see what that see’s including wheel speed as I’ll have an ecu wheel speed sensor.

Thats awesome

Would love to do something similar however theres plenty on the to do list this winter so budget is reduced lol

I might look at even just replacing the round speedo and rev counters within the housing to jazz it up a bit

For me just de clutters stuff and looks neater plus I can see everything the ecu see’s. I only have 3 gauges now that sit in place of the heater vents. Stack fuel level and afr and a 3 bar vdo boost gauge as I like the old mechanical boost gauges

not done it before but i dont see why it wouldnt work on a car.

You could also try just to change the gauge clusters for aftermarket ones

A bit pricey, and not common in the uk, but Dakota Digital from the states has lots of options

A lot of oem dash boards post 2000 no longer have sensors that give the dash pod its information. Instead most get the information via the ecu on a bus network ie CAN.
