Default Focus 1.0 EcoBoost starting / misfires

Hello

new member here (Missus was signed up before but forgot details) we have now moved on from Focus mk2.5 1.6 to mk3 1.0 ecoboost, very impressed with engine until just now.

took car camping in cornwall for week ran fine no issues, halfway back home after short services stop when we started the car it had a really rough idle with engine mangement light on. switch on off a few times and it seemed ok. drove back last 100 miles fine if maybe a little down on power. since then it has been reoccuring daily to the point where it refused to start one morning.

borrowed a elm cable from a ford enthusiast at workand used forscan. i got on cold startup misfire codes on all three cylinders, but then switch off and back on it drove home fine.
forscan suggests Possible causes :
Ignition System
Fuel System
Low Fuel Warning
Blocked kinked or crushed fuel lines
Fuel contaminated
Evaporative emission control system malfunction
EGR system fault.
Base engine fault

after much googling i think its pointing to fuel pump. does anyone know what pressures i should be expecting so i can check with forscan please?

im thinking coil pack / plugs unlikey as codes on all three cylinders has to be something else they all have in common.

any help appreciated as ford wanted £114 to look at it which i thought was a bit steep.
thank you

Has it had the recall done on the plastic coolant pipe? These are common for leaking coolant, overheating and blowing the head gasket.

Thanks RichieST

i did some more digging this morning after i remembered about the coolant loss and found out about the issue, so i called ford who couldnt tell me if it had been done or not. only thing they said was it was due a clutch pressure plate check recall. can i look under the bonnet and tell? if so which hose is it please?

also i didnt notice any overheating on the temperature gauge stayed in the middle. i did also find this page https://www.pressreader.com/uk/auto-...81586650820076 so not looking good :-( expensive bill to come i suspect. its a 12 plate with only 60k on it.

I don't know the ins and outs of it but there are a lot of problems with these engines, especially the early ones. Id take it to someone who knows what they are doing to diagnose it properly.

Just a quick update called the dealer who serviced the car for the previous owner and it had the degas hose recall done the month before we purchased it. We took it to local ford dealer they couldn't start it £100 we came out with a quote for £4.5k for a new engine as ours has suspected head gasket failure and they dont repair them. Ford won't make a contribution until head is stripped off and dealer want £700 to do that.
Car is currently a giant paper weight.
Think we've been lucky to get 61k miles out of it many seem to have much less before failure.

New cars really are scrap these days. I work on trucks we have one in at the moment that’s putting coolant in the oil. Turns out the cylinder wall on no4 is porous lol cheap Chinese casting Cummins was once a sign of good quality
