Can anybody help . Mates 4X4 driveshaft is stuck in the gearbox and wont come out . We changed the passenger side no problem and the drivers side at some point in its life was hammered in ? We have used pry bars ,welded a bracket to the end of the housing and used a slid hammer but no movement . Anybody experience this and were sucessfull in getting it out without damaging the box .

 

Are you talking about the front driveshafts? If so I believe there's a circlip inside the diff, you need to take off the bottom cover to gain access

 

As per Timster, the drivers side is circlipped, drop diff cover to get to it

 

Yes front drive shafts Really if thats so great . I just wonder why Ford put a clip on the drivers side and not the passenger side . The front of the driveshaft has been hit with a hammer to push it into place .Thanks will update with a conclusion

 

I believe That drivers side on full droop or lock could pop out in theory. I believe some people leave the clip off though.
