Sapphire Cosworth - Service or Not ?
Just pulled my Sapph out again for it's annual MOT and run round the block and was wondering about getting it serviced.
Silly question it may be but it's done just over 1000 miles since the last service and cam belt change....... but that was back in 2009!
It sits stored in a garage other than the odd occasion when it comes out but wonder if I should get it serviced, oils filters and all and a cam belt too perhaps ?
What do you reckon ? It drives fine and seems to have no issues but just wondered what you chaps think ?
Oh, and any recommendations for a Cosworth specialist near Colchester would be good too ?
Regards,
DW.

I would do an oil change with oil filter and a cambelt change so not a full blown service per se just the most essential items for the engines health. New brake fluid would be nice too as it tends to absorb moisture over time which lowers its boiling point and could be unsafe after 9 years. Maybe some new tires and an alternator belt depending on condition.
It's gonna need the lot. The only thing that doesn't degrade with time are the spark plugs and air filter.
if they tyres are over 6 years old then you need to think about replacing them too.

For the cost the belt is good piece of mind, I don't personally buy the whole oil and moisture thing.
Brake fluid, as mentioned is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture) and anti-freeze looses it's protection/corrosion inhibitor ability over time.
