Default E555 NPR white Escort RS turbo

Been on eBay for some time now from what's been said. It's advertised for £4,650 in Manchester. Today me and my friend decided to go up and take a punt on it. The friend had offered £3,800 as an agreed price as the advert claimed it to be 95% sorted and a weekend project.

the car has been forklifted onto a shortage area within a unit next to a MK1 Fiesta XR2, this has caused major chassis damage and components to be squashed.

The car is completely rotten every panel is knackered. Holes in the roof, hole in the windscreen frame, stand in the car and the floor moves. The rhs inner sill has about 12 patches of steel welded, all onto rot. Bodykit all bonded on with tiger seal rhs front wing hanging of the car, tailgate rotten inside out. Fuel filler surround rotten so the neck rocks about.

Engine and ancillaries are incomplete, turbo has major play, loom just checked onto the engine and lots of plugs cur of and replaced with spade connectors.

random trim and parts just chucked in the boot, most don't fit the car.
throttle body seized, turbo major play.

if the person who buys the car, we'd say it needs £5,000 worth of work and that's doing the car yourself..

Thanks for giving people the heads up, sorry to hear you and your friend have had a wasted day.

I keep thinking about a rs turbo but parts are so hard to get now I ended up with a 944 instead.

No problem, gotta look out for eachother. 6 hour round journey. Waste of time.. Looks like seller has removed all the good bits from the car and claimed just a couple of bodywork issues. I bet he hated it when we turnt up with me in my Ford t-shirt
we spoke before seeing the car, saying what cars we own.

the seller didn't even bother getting the car down we had to climb a narrow ladder in the dark, with very poor lighting. Luckily phone had a torch

paintwork is very dull and blotchy, the bloke didn't really want to be there he had no care in the world and soon gave us space when I asked for the keys to check it over.

Just looking at the pictures would put me off bothering to see it. If someone wants decent money then the least they can do is tidy stuff up. The rubbish on the dash for starters. Looking at the pictures unfortunately you can see issues with the bodywork coloring etc. Sorry he messed you both around.

Unfortunately now people see anything classic and with a ford badge as big money.

This came up while I was looking at the rs turbo, but even this needs loads of work to the shell

It really pisses me off when people are not honest about the condition of a car.!!! The bloke must have thought you knew SFA and probably shit himself when he realised you had sussed out what a pile of crap he was trying to sell!!

visa broke. I just looked at the White Sapphire Cosworth in the E-Bay advert. One thing I noticed was that it was a 1991 car that has been off the road since 1994 and had already clocked up 130,000 miles! If it had continued to be used doing that sort of yearly mileage it would now have 1,170,000 miles on it which would be a world record!!!

It's surely a waste of time trying to sell something like this as the only folk likely to be interested will be the enthusiasts who know what they're looking at!

Ironically the Escort is no longer available. Either someone has 'bought' it or the seller has given up.

I really hope it's the latter as this is a big restoration and requires someone very brave to tackle this poor car.

Yes the pics show it looking quite poor, but looked easy enough to get sorted and someone with knowledge could have it sorted within a reasonable time period. But once you see it in person it's not what it seems, and that's in the dark, where you can barely see it.
