Default Fired up after 4 years dead

Posted a few queries on here over my overhaul that grew arms and legs, thought I'd update. Owned the car 23 years now.

Finally got the engine/wiring completed, cranked it over to get the oil pressure up, fuel relay back in, wouldn't fire. Was expecting hours of fault finding after the amount of work I've done and the time it's been 'dead', but, hadn't put the alarm fuse back in.....re-fitted, brum, straight away. Chuffed to say the least. Bit more to do before I get it MOT'd etc but at least it's running again. My 8 year old son can't remember it working.

Short list of work:

Sump removed & modified for breather return

New big ends & mains (whilst it was in bits, didn't really need them)

New oil seals everywhere

New AP organic clutch & ARP flywheel bolts

New Autodynamix engine/fan/fuel pump looms

L8 ECU, Siemens blacks and new MSD chip to suit

New starter & battery

New cam belt & tensioner

New Collins engine mounts

New Vibratechnics gearbox mount

Trouble is, all the time it's been off the road, I honestly haven't missed it. Been running a 996 turbo for the last 3 years and an E46 M3 prior to that so the Cossie has become somewhat redundant. Hoping driving it again will put a smile on my face, and be good to give it a run against it's stablemate

Haven't found any for sale to get an idea of it's value these days either, any pointers?

Saphs seem to have got back over the 20k barrier for a nice one.

996 turbos seem to be on the way up too, I do like these.

Result that matey. Cossies are going for stupid money these days. Sadly so are the price of parts.

Hopefully when you drive it again you will fall in love with it again.

plynchy. You have the basic components for a 400+ bhp Saff. Decent turbo ,cams, etc and it should be there. A 2wd Saff with over 400 bhp should get you loving it again!!

As Toby said good 2wd saffs are above 20k.

400bhp in a saff is great fun without the added expense. Just hope you new clutch can handle it.

Enjoy and have fun you will deffo have a smile.

It was 300 ATW before I took it apart.

It's running a T34.48, on the advice of MSD I've swapped out the injectors (along with loom etc) as above so should be north of 350. It was a handful before in anything but bone dry conditions.

Bit of perspective, changed a spring on my Mam's 1.2 Fiesta the other week, it's on 195 tyres as std, the Saff is on 205s FFS.

Should give the 996 a fright up to about 120, at which point engineering takes over...

It’s sat on very old 17” Yokohama’s which will be getting binned and reverting to the std lattice rims. Got 2 sets of those, 6 have 888s on but open to suggestions for a good road tyre? Toyo always used to be decent.

I run Hankooks V12 on std rims grips well.

Federals far are not bad either I will opt for those next.
