Default Stolen on hpi reports....

hello everyone, i did a hpi check yeaterday on an RS im looking to buy, the report came back as the car being stolen when it was 2 years old. But if you do a PNC (police national computor) check it comes back as not stolen. The cars on its original registration with all numbers intact. Im wondering if anybody has ever experianced this and what to make of it?
Thanks

Stolen recovered I suppose. Pnc is current status, so not now stolen.

That site obtains information from a snapshot of the PNC, under license from the home office.

Only the Police can query the PNC and even then it's audited.

When my car was stolen, and i got it back it showed up on hpi as stolen at first, then after 3 months, the hpi was clear.

now im not certain on this, but if it shows on a hpi permently as stolen, its when the owners paid out and when the cars recoved the insurance now own it, and sold it on. So will allways show on a hpi.

if like mine, i got it back and the insurance didnt pay out on it as a loss, it wont show on a hpi
