Hi,

I have a Fiesta 1600 cvh on weber carb. The car has a really strong smell of fuel. No leaks present. Had it on the analyser today 2400+ HC can not get it to drop. Probably a loaded question but anything I can do before I go down the route of Zetec 1.8.

I'm assuming it's smelling fuel from the exhaust,could be it has the wrong jet, not set up properly and running rich, Or try another carb, if not sell it on. Service kits are cheap.

Unless I'm missing something like timing out it can only be in my mind carb related, but I'm no expert

At this stage it would be easier and cheaper to find the problem rather than going down the conversion route, they are never straight forward and will cost more than you think, plus insurance.
Not that I'm against conversions as I ran an escort turbo engine in mine and it was a hoot!

The hydro carbons are seriously high, that's a lot of un burnt fuel.

Is it misfiring?

Is the choke manual or auto and is it functioning correctly.

Is the car running a distributor and is the timing set correctly both valve and ignition?
