Hi Tim,
There is a lot of myth and voodoo surrounding these springs!
Firstly there is a small vehicle preparation workshop that apparently sells Ahmed Bayjoo springs as Leda Suspension manufactured items in boxes sporting the Leda Suspension logo. Leda Suspension never supplied these springs, they were always supplied by our other brand name Harvey Bailey Engineering.
Secondly, like a number of similar specialists, when preparing and/or specifying suspension, Ahmed would take into account the way the car was to be used and customer preferences with regard to ride height, etc. This means there was a small range of springs available, and different cars/kits had different spring combinations, but were all sold as 'the' Ahmed Bayjoo spring set.
Originally Ahmed approached Harvey Bailey Engineering to design and supply these springs, but later cut HBE out of the equation and had a spring manufacturer in Sheffield manufacture them directly. There were a number of folk apparently questioned the performance of these springs. The rumor mill says eventually Ahmed stopped paying the manufacturer so they fell out with each other, and the supply dried up.
We still have the original specifications of the 3 x front spring and 2 x rear spring variants Ahmed specified, so would need to know more about the car and intended use before we could suggest which would be most applicable. The front springs are all the same rate but there are 3 free lengths differing by 0.5" each. The 2 x rear springs are different fee lengths and rates.
Regarding costs, these springs are not kept in stock as demand has been zero over the last 6 years, so we would have to have them especially manufactured. This would put the price in the region of Ł90 each + VAT
Regards,
Roger

Ahmed told me the reason for different lengths was dependant on which cossie they were for. Ie saph 2wd fronts are slightly different length springs to a 3dr front. There is only 1 length for each vehicle type but a variation on spring rate was available depending on what you wanted. I went for track spec when i got mine but find it quite softly sprung.
Ahmed certainly knew his stuff.
