A little bit off google.apparently the pictures are old.library ones aswell.
Chassis #001 now lives in Norway and its owner, perhaps, isn't quite as clued up as the rabid fanbase that surrounds these cars. Instead of being built in-house by Ford as claimed in the description, #001 was actually built with the rest of its siblings by Tickford. During the development one of the four cars was involved in a very bad accident but didn't need re-shelling. Instead, it was repaired by a local dealer under the shroud of secrecy. The re-shelling of #001 must have happened later and is either a big deal or not quite the hoo-ha you'd imagine, depending on who you speak to.

001 has had more hits than a druggie lol . Iirc it's has 2 reshells and a heavy rear and front repair before even ford sold the car . Not only was it crashed by magazine's but by employees too . And then there rumours of a copy car too so imho it worth fuck all compared to most 500's

I would generally prefer the last of to the first of...Defo would prefer the last 205 gti to leave the production line compare to the first....I think the same for an RS500.
Even within a year I.e would prefer the last 911 2.7rs of 1973 to the first of that yr....just need a spare £1m to buy it.

got a 2.7rs in my workshop the now! not mine unfortunately but a good friend of my dads, bought for 30k and worth 450k now!
I've had a few GTis and a Gentry. The original 1.6 was a revvy, lively, road razor, and excited doberman always ready to give you a nip. The last ones were still great, but things like cat converters had made them lumpy and relatively unloved among the congnescenti.
Does it not get to a point where a chequered history just becomes a part of the value. Like Rowan Atkinson's F1 for example? It's all documented and part of a "colourful" history. Rather than a car that's just been hidden in a garage.
not particularly not only that Rowans car went to McLaren for the rebuild and that 500 went robby the bodger and got nailed together
It was indeed. First time round he hit a dustcart on his long windy driveway. Second time he mullered it good and proper on a suspiciously straight piece of road not far from here.
thought one of the 001's was featured in an old fast ford or performance ford. Had "apparently" been owned by someone with some private land that ragged the hell out of it and even with low miles needed a rebuild.
