Sorry to bother you guys but I'm getting a bold spot from head scratching!.
First off I've been building Ford's along time.
Just rebuilt a 1.6 cvh turbo engine using Mahler and Payne.
All back together and I can't get it to run properly.
All together idled crap revs ok
If I block crack breather to metering unit idles fine revs lumpy.
if i pull the vacum from inlet to crank breath idled very fast and won't reg.
If I pull dipstick or oil filler it makes no difference every thing is working in reverse order!!.

Any ideas?

Also I have tried a working crankcase breather and that made no difference

 

Never mind found it brand new Payne sump gasket shat it's self

 

sump gaskets can be a pain to get right on cvh's, make sure everything is clean and dry before you fit the new one, just a touch of sealer on the joins between the cork and rubber sections and you should be good. another hint would be to make sure you're not over tightening it and splitting the cork.

Fitted the new victor reins gasket and been all good since think it was a case of the Payne gasket may have been sat on the shelf for a few years.
Shame of it is it's finished just in time to sit in the garage for 6 months waiting for some sunshine.
