Fly by wire throttle and pedal info required
Looking at changing over to fly by wire throttle body but need some info.
I see a few people seem to use the throttle body from a VW 1.8T 20V as the bolt patten is the same as the cossie one so is a direct fit meaning no need to make up adapter plates.
What I'm trying to find out is what pedal you need ? As in, if you use the vw throttle body do you have to run the vw pedal.
I've been told the fiesta st 150 pedal is an easy fit but will this work with the vw throttle body ?
Also what other throttle body's and pedals can be used with out having to machine adapter plates up to make it fit.

That's all that matters as far as what will work and not work electrically.
Physically, up to whatever works for you best after considering the control aspects.

I'm looking to put it on my YB Cosworth when I change my management, hence wanting to use the Vw throttle body as it's the right size and bolts straight on. It's just the pedal I've been trying to work out which one I need to use.
Bit expensive, but would guess so. most are, changes to progression ratio are in the software.
For instance, the first 50% of my pedal movement only opens the throttle by 25%. The remaining 50% pedal does the last 75% throttle plate.

All input from pedal to output to body. ECU inbetween. Varying 5v input.
Your ecu needs to have a half bridge driver, twin pwms to control the throttle plate.
Thanks for your advice Mark, just bought a hawkeye STi pedal for Ł20+p&p and a golf gti 1.8 20vt throttle body for Ł5+p&p.
Both bargains I think, Impreza pedal looks good and more robust than the all plastic VW one I seen.

Often you can find breakers selling pedals with the plug.
I think Tim at https://jti.uk.com/ can supply connectors though.
And pedals or DBW units do not need to be linear, you'd be calibrating them all yourself anyway but it is a little easier if they are linear. But most units are all different. Some have 1 up, 1 down, some have both going up, some have one linear, the other not.
Really doesnt matter at the end of the day. I've heard some where the sensor does not actually cover the full motion of the blade though...those are definitely to be avoided. Seems bizarre any manufacturer would even do it, but apparently some Toyotas do.
But again, the most important aspect with DBW...is what your chosen ecu will be happy with.
