Hi,

I'm trying to repair a leakage in the steering rack of my saph cosworth.

To fix it, I ordered to Graham Goode this seal kit wich is told to fit to my car.

The kit I received includes, at least, one more seal wich measures 38*24*6mm.

When I was studying different info about the rack, I found this exploded view:



Some pieces of K and L items are wich I have to change.

When I take off the rack support bush I can see it is different as shown in that view.



Support bush is divided in two parts, and the seal shown in the view isn't in this place. When you take off the support bush, you can see an oil seal wich is inserted on the carrier shown on the right, as you can see now:



This mounting is as shown in this figure:



I think that in this place I have to put the seal that comes whith the seal kit, and is not shown in GGR photo. This seal is shown here (Black and White):



First, I thought that I should have to put the Green/black one in this place, but now I am in a mess, and I think that I would have to put the black/white in that place, and close all again.

Can you confirm that or give me other explanation?

Think they are for c and on b on first diagram ,I didn't replace these so will find them and have a look when back home,
think second diagram is correct

no probs,i have left over the green and black one and a black seal with about 15mm hole through it which im sure is for shaft b,
i only did the seals for shaft f cant remember now how many seals there was but your kit looks to have more bits than the one i bought,

 

But I am working on F shaft too. I suppose that LHD and RHD steering racks are simetrical.

In the first view, right side of F Shaft shouldn't have to have any oil seal, because in this place it has only grease, so you should have changed the same seals as me.

I am going to change my black/blue seal by new black/white seal as it is shown in second view shown

I have replaced the seal with a 25*38*6mm viton seal, and it works fine, but... for how long???

I replaced the seals in my rack years ago. I left the gatior off to make sure it wasnt leaking. It wasn't. A few days later the gatior was full of oil. I just fitted a recon rack in the end.

sorry, but this is NO help. The tread starter wrote in the first post, that there is a seal, that is NOT shown on the graham goode picture. so i think the graham goode picture is a generic picture and does NOT show the actual content of the repair kit. thats why i was asking for an ACTUAL picture of the kit. if i order the graham goode kit i will have to pay 150 euro (incl. posting and custom fees). that's absolutely outrageous. if i had an actual picture of the kit i may be able to find out where i can find it cheaper. it looks to be a kit manufactured by Corteco. And the corteco repair kits are usually around 20-50 Euro, not 150.
