Default mk1 transit supervan

well i finally tracked down a mk1 transit swb at a realistic price, 200 miles south a Paris, picking it up sunday, if its a genuine 1965 it may be sold and a later one got (apparently the 65's a rare), if its not worth a premium as its a 65, it will hopefully have mk1 escort bubbles on it by end of week, its going to be a tribute/restomod whatever of the MK1 transit supervan 1

Interesting project, I do like a mk 1 but have more of a soft spot for the mk2, good luck with whatever you decide to do and keep the thread updated

yes its going mid engine, not worked out transaxle yet, but leaning to corvette but using a gt500 t56 rather than the corvette t56 as the shifter on the corvette version of the t56 comes out the front of the box where my flywheel will be, and then go flappy paddle set up so i don't have to run a long rod to the gear stick position, the flappy paddle set up isn't cheap but makes it easy, i much prefer a gear leaver but will have to see once in, might be able to rig it with cables, don't know yet, other option would be the Audi six speed

I would have thought that the Audi V8 coupled with a FWD Audi transaxle would be a convenient option.

If you used a cam chain engine, you might be able to get it looking kind of like a DFV with some paint and stickers !

i already have a 5.4 block and a pair of ford GT supercar heads, will be running an MMR rotating assembly rated at 2500hp, not even entertaining that much HP, just want the bottom end strong, will be running a good pair of gt35r turbos, a very good management and a higher than normal 9.3ish compression ratio,

i'm going for a more modern set up so it can be a bit lower, don't want all that scaffolding visible underneath, and want a better stance
