Exclamation Ford Fair 6th August 2017

Just got a e-mail from Kelsey for FordFair.
Ticket price is 25quid, which is more than last year(but it includes a T-Shirt...)

Strange thing is that you need to pay an extra 2 quid to get your car on a show stand.

Do you guys organise a stand this time too,or was this year the last time?
Since Steve has stepped back from organising events

I'm not sure if i will attend this year(maybe i will if there is a PassionFord stand...)
My brother won't attend, he was quite fed up after the very long way home(his car broke down 3 times )

They want people who are showing their cars to pay extra? They do realise that without peoples cars they wouldn't have a show don't they? Cheeky bastards!

Ok, then it's clear.
No FordFair for me this time.
I think i will go to the European Ford Event in Venray next time.

Kelsey basically killed the entire event for us..

Will be a lot more economical, as the trip for me to FordFair is costing me about 300 quid for just a few days..

That's better spent on a nice holiday to a sunny country instead

a fair few clubs inc passionford wont be attending any kelsey run shows for 2017 due to the current structure and lack of respect they have shown for their customers so we will be attending alternate events throughout 2017 instead

I said after last year, I wouldn't be bothering again. Crap organisation and not enough there for those of us that don't own Focus or Fiesta ST's

I can't imagine that Kelsey will care all that much to be honest, the show will still be big. As you all rightly point out, there will be thousands of Focus/Fiesta ST owners who are willing to pay. The demographic of the Ford scene is changing, it's only natural. Times change. They can't prioritise crusty old buggers in old Sierras forever

Thats it they simply want bums on seats and could not care less that the quality of cars is dropping and it becoming focus fest

I also spoke to Jamie but its too little too late for me and many, only 2 people out of pfs attendees last year wanted to do it again so other plans for this year have been made I will wait to see reports of this years to see if 2018s is worth putting back on the list

It's no surprise that they want bums on seats. They have to make a profit after all.

If I want to feel like I'm at ford fair this year I can go on YouTube and look for videos of people revving the cock off their 5cyl Focus model's. Play them for a few hours till my head hurts then hey presto Ford fair without getting up at 3 am.

I'm disappointed not be attending but I lay the blame totally at kelsey medias door, as they have made the show what it is and hit us in the pocket for our troubles, I may go have a laugh at USC at the pod instead

Good shout mate. I'm thinking of going this year with the Dorset Rsoc. I haven't been on a stand before I having to lug all our lunch and every thing with us last time done us in but would be nice to be able to just return to the car and have lunch sat on some deck chairs!

When we have our stand we have a huge gazebo to sit under, we all socialise, have a laugh, eat & sometimes even throw paper aeroplanes about

I will go again. It's still the biggest Ford show so worth looking at. The Ford scene is changing, it's just natural progression. Still a good day out. Go back ten years, people moaned about fleets of MK1 Focus RS', go back 20 years and people probably moaned about fleets of RS Turbos and Cosworths. The cars change, the moaning doesn't

You say that, but it's the people running the show, and the prices that are killing it off MassiveWangers
Every year is just getting worse... for Fordfair as a show I hope your right and it can still continue with the newer stuff
I think it's people attitudes that are changing, everyone is sick of having there pants pulled down every year and they just expect people to keep coming and keep paying the prices...
Hopefully if the club numbers are down this year they'll have a rethink for future events...
I'm not doing near 300 miles and paying near Ł30 to put my car on display, I can comfortably afford to, but I'm not doing it... it's principal for me... without me and many others as said before, they have no show. They may get the public in this year, but if the display/ turn outs bad they won't come the year after... it'll take years to get it back.
Look what happened to RS National day...

This is true. I don't have a lot of money and it's getting very expensive just to attend a show where your displaying your car. People who display their cars should get a discount imo

events like ford fair give no real credit to the club attendees that actually make the show, many other non kelsey run events offer discounts as they treat you as a exhibitor rather than a cash cow, for instance silverstone offer club attendees massive discount for being part of the attraction at events like the BTCC letting you have 2 full days of racing with pit passes all for Ł25 and ford fair want that just for the one day now at same venue

To be honest, a lot of the younger lads I know, so the type of people that have the STs and the like, have more money than sense. I know a few of them, albeit in the Vauxhall/VAG scene and the amount of money these guys are spending on their cars, never mind on insurance and the like, is incredible. A Ł5 increase in ticket prices is a drop in the ocean to them, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if it has no effect at all on their decision to attend these types of event. Most of us are the old farts of the car world now. Kelsey might lose 500 of us, but they might gain another 1000 of the younger lads, so I don't know if they will care too much.

don't doubt that for a minute fella, we wont be missed by kelsey but true ford enthusiasts will miss our diverse range of fords from all eras

Myself owning one of the thousands of "Foci" ST I feel like I'm part of the problem that most here talk about, I'd definitely say its a lot of the younger generation who run them but there's quite a lot of the older generation who have them too.

Whilst I can understand its boring to stare at the same focus two thousand times with a different dreamscience or revo wrap ect as other say I'm sure it was the same back in the days for owners of even older fords to think the same about Cossies and RS Turbos.

I dont have all the money to plough into my ST like quite a few I see but as a car I think they have a lot of charm to them with that 5 pot engine and the endless possibilities.

I think we have to get used to the number of most owners older cars here like the Cossies and such disappearing from shows but the current MK2 ST and RS will go the same way in the years to come I'm sure, Then us MK2 ST and RS owners will be in the same position as a few of the owners above lamenting the thousands of new cars on show and dwilndling numbers of our own.

Its the way of the world I guess, new replaces old, That being said Kelsey need to pull their finger out and actually put on a show, rather than expect extra money for a ticket and some wank T-shirt 3 sizes too big for me , No matter what you drive we all think the rise in ticket prices is a joke, Especially for us exhibitors.

Just the view of a younger rambling Ford enthusiast here.

I run focus st's these days myself but seeing nothing but is hardly a event worth attending mate if honest, as the "show" part is whats been missing since kelsey took over, most cosworth owners look at them as investments now rather than from a owning and driving point of view, these guys though will bring out their cars for other shows its just ford fair is no longer a attraction for them

To me that's what it's all about really, not so much what car's attend but just the social aspect of it, i.e. Firing up the BBQ and cracking open the beers and where possible a bit of camping, I did used to walk around shows but most of the time I was on stand and just having a crack with people. I think the last time I attended ford fair was 2010 and have not been back since, having said that I've not attended any shows really over the past few years because they do get a bit repetitive if you keep on attending year in year out, I went to castle Combe last year and had a trade stand which is very reasonably priced, sold a few bits and made a bit of profit but mainly done it to take my Mrs and little ones on a bit of a camping excursion, I aim to do a little bit more in the way of shows this coming year but will concentrate on the venues I have not attended in the past and it's a new experience then. On a final note cost does come into it will a lot of people myself included when thinking of attending shows, prices seem to rise with regards to everything but wages stay the same

Totally the opposite for me tbh, I'd rather go for a drive somewhere and have no interest in going to a show anymore, just to go and look at the same old cars that are every other show, pay a fortune in fuel and ticket prices etc, just not interested in the slightest nowadays
