Default dump valve/chatter????

ive come across this comment elsewhere, thought id get your opinion!!!!!

"Right if your sick an tired of your dump valve makein the same old noise why not treat ureself to a -31 actuator an a nice air filter an get ure RS chatterin, sounds lot better than normal dump valves an will increase BHP an keep your turbo happy !!!! MIKE RS TURBO"

REPLY
"dont u hav 2 run more than standard boost tho 2 make the chatter just that little bit better!"

Reply
"if you cut into the control pipework and put in a T piece with two tubes coming off it ..on one tube u put a one way valve facing towards the engine and then on the other place a vapour manegment valve (2 wire type) then they both rejoin the inlet manifold..."
you now have a working switchable dump valve that can be turned on or off at the flick of a switch
this works a treat...

REPLY
"sounds like a good idea, where can i get a vapour managment valve and how much are they?"

Reply
"...or alternatively use a spare amal valve as i have!
just pull out the nylon restrictors, cut into ur boost gauge hose and connect one side to the wastegate (W) port, the other side to the compressor (C) port, and connect the dump valve vacuum feed to the airbox (R) port. u may need to make some sort of union or a use a piece of bigger hose to make the small vacuum hoses fit the big amal valve ports.
now all u need to do is make a switch to supply the valve with 12V when u want the dump valve on.
sorted."

i dont fully understand this but is this actually possible? is this better than a dump valve or...........?

i was told that a dump valve can extend the life your turbo, by releasing excess compressed air from the system....

and i was told it makes the turbo spin up faster, by how much i dont know

Oh god, the debate starts again

The long an short of it is that dumpvalves do fuck all except make a sound.

The only time you would need one is if your running very high boost.

I removed my dumpvalve at the weekend and the car now chatters away like an OAP.

Madmacs right dump valves are only needed if you are running mega boost like say on a high powered cossie. Although i still use it on my rst as it sounds crap without it no chatter. Ive seen fiesta rs turbos with good chatter but that maybe bcos they are running efi management.
