Got a horrible steering wobble at 50mph upwards. Have replaced Everything and tbh falling out of love with the car over this.
Had new wheel bearings,tcas,rack and tres,all bushes inc arb,shocks,outer cvs.
All 4 wheels have had a full refurb (inc checking/correcting for roundness) plus new tyres.
Calipers checked and cleaned up,pads and discs not that old.
As you can tell, a lot invested in this!

No bangs or clunks on take up and wobble is consistent clutch in or out,accelerating,coasting,deceleration.

Anyone got advice? I'm thinking inner cvs as there is very little left at this point. Anyone got a source for these as I can't find them anywhere either.

Have you still got the abs fitted? There are a few breakers that break up 3i cabs etc you should be able to get a set of shafts for a reasonable price. Dunno about new but for the cost of a pair if second hand shafts to test the theory might be a good idea.

 

Nah non-ABS. Problem is, the newest of these parts are 25yrs old, so grabbing some from a breaker dont guarentee they'll be any good in the grand scheme of things.
Ive found and fitted new outers and the shafts themselves "look" straight (hard to prove i know), just the blasted impossible to find inners.
Im open to any other ideas outside the CV's not that there is a lot left to renew..

 

Can you drive through the vibration?

 

Kind of. I'd say 80 onwards its driveable, can still feel a small vibration but its minor and I wouldnt even be bothered if the entire speed range had that wobble throughout.

Its the 55-80 range thats just undriveable and the steering really is truely wobbling rather than vibrating.

 

What wheels are they? Have they got the spigot rings fitted if required?

 

Standard RST Wheels - literally refurbed with new tyres sub 50miles ago (was confident it wasnt them as they spun up fine but getting desperate). Threw new tyres on for good measure (Not cheapo tyres - Michelin Exalto's)

 

Another thought might be checking the run out on the hub flanges using a dti gauge?
