Welcome, this is my Honda DC5 Integra Type R...



I bought the car from Nottingham as the 3rd UK Owner. The Car is a Japanese Import and was brought over by Torque GT in 2006 as a 4B Graded Vehicle and was Imported in as a Standard Vehicle, Converted to UK Spec by Torque GT. The previous owner who had the Car imported in (First owner in the UK) had brought in an extremely clean Car and a Perfect DC5 to start with.

I've owned this car for 2 weeks now with no real intention to Modify the car further than it already was (Full Spec can be found Below) temptation got the better of me and this list of Future Modifications and parts already ordered in ever increasing on a Daily Basis. However, owning a car like this and not using it to its full Potential is a Crime so hoping to get the most out of it as possible, unlike my Old Fiesta and Cosworth aiming for the occasional Track Day (Not a FREE FOR ALL like at Ford Fair)

This, as with everything when it comes to projects might change as I already have some Mods Lined-Up if I decide to go for more POWER. Time will tell I guess, but in the mean time will be posting updates here to see which way I decide to go.

Awesome cars, I've been contemplating getting a dc2.......

 

I am on my second Dc5 now. Great cars amazingly fast for there relative lack of hp.

Nice looking car, Honda rarely get their cars right. But the Integra Type-R, NSX(old ones) and the EK9 Civic Type-R are the only good 'uns.

 

I did look at getting a DC2 but I already have a Saph Cossie as well so didn't really fancy another "90s" car haha

 

They really are an eye opener considering the "lack" of BHP. I mean yes alot of work has been done to this and I intend to do some more and 250ish BHP in one of these makes it come alive.

How come 2nd DC5? Got any pics?

I have always been a "Ford Guy" but respect other Marques, whether they be German/Jap or even a GM lol but for some reason I just developed an itch for something with a screaming NA engine and something I can drive without worrying about to much going wrong (Cosworth Tax)

Yes I still want something V8 and/or RWD at some point but for now this is literally just what the doctor ordered. So much fun and the looks you get because they just aren't seen on the road very often

 

I had one 10years ago then replaced it with a focus st for 8 years then decided I hated putting fuel in the st lol so replaced it with another dc5.
Both blue I will find a pict. Before that I had a dc2 also.

I loved my PFL ST and the fuel wasn't as bad as I thought. But then this thing is amazing on fuel. I mean done Liverpool and back so 260+ miles on a 1/3 of a tank at 70 the whole way. Couldn't ask for more really

I'm not really into jap stuff myself but that looks like it would be bloody good fun to drive and probably reliable lol

 

I'm planning on it mate. Already looking at Track Days and a few Honda shows that are a decent drive away as well

 

ill be honest im not really a fan of jap cars, but if i were to have one then it would have to be a dc5 integra type r.
sounds like it already has got a good few upgrades on there looking forward to the updates

Yeah it really does. Went over the car lastnight and found even more mods that i wasn't expecting so as long as it runs what it should be for this spec I'll be thrashing the arse off it

 

haha now that is a winner all round pal, are you happy with the power it has or are there plans for more? seems like its got a nice hike in power already

 

Yeah mate. I can't believe how quick it is for such a low relative BHP. But I have started looking at ITBs and cams trying to get it around the 300 mark which would change the car completely

 

sometimes numbers can be very deceiving and people get too caught up in the power bragging rights.

itb's sound unreal on these engines i remember mark at gt motorsport by me did a type r on bodies/cams etc and fook me it went like stink and sounded crazy.

I honestly dont blame you for trying out new things. I bought an EVO IV in 2009 after messing about with Fords for years, It was bloody good fun. Not as quick as my ERST on the straights I thought, but was such good fun. Then I missed my ERST(sat in my garage) the EVO had to go, so I bought a tidy Mazda Eunos(import) for a runabout for a couple of months while I spent about £2,000 on car parts.

Just keep enjoying it, Championship white is a stunning colour!

 

Yeah that's true about numbers. I have driven a couple of escort cosworths now, both rolling roaded around 370 to 380bhp on t34 and they felt slower than my stage 3 saph cos on a t3!

 

Yeah I'm looking forward to ITBs on this. Not chasing numbers but that sound is too good not to have...

 

That's the thing. I love my Cossie and on the way back from Ford F*ck UP (Sorry Ford Fair) was playing with a Collins Performance Mk3 RS and remembered why that car brings a smile to my face everytime I get in it. But there is just something about a High Revving NA that handles like it on rails.

Was always going to be a Championship White car as well. White with Red Interior is how a Type R should be

 

agreed itbs are so addictive, i had them on my old mg zr back in 2007.

they will make a big difference on the type r for sure i think 300ish will be a nice figure for the chassis etc and will be one quick car on track

 

Always the way mate. I'd rather have a car that was consistent and predictable with how it drove than 500+ bhp that wanted to kill me every day

 

Haven't had much to for upgrades at the moment due to work and well actually abusing the car every chance I get. Unfortunately that is literal as well. This happened...



So after a week of not being able to use the car (Luckily I have the Cosworth still so was able to use that) and numerous phone calls to Autoglass I was finally told that they DO NOT have the glass in stock and can expect it between 2-8 WEEKS!!!!! After much badgering on the phone to confirm part numbers etc found out they had actually ordered the incorrect spec glass and they DID happen to have a correct spec one in stock (With Wiper Hole) so fast forward 48 hours and Paul and Steve are here for the 2nd time in 8 hours. They did turn up originally in the morning but soon realised that they didn't have the correct seals for the job (Brought Civic parts) and after a trip back to the depot to get they correct part (Yet again) were finally able to get the new glass fitted. Thank God



So it's all sorted. Well apart from the fact that I am still finding glass everywhere. So going to spend the afternoon (as long as it stays dry) getting the entire interior pulled out so I can find any remaining glass (Yes, that also includes all the trim panels around the Tailgate since I can hear more glass in the channels.

 

So back onto the updates....

Not aiming to do to much to quickly with this as ATM it is quite capable but there are a few bits and bobs that I wanted to change and get sorted on the car. First up was a set of Wind Deflectors... Genuine Parts and not that difficult to fit. Always had them on my cars so they were a must for the DC as well. Removed the 2 Rear Clips though, not had any issues at all.



And as you can see through the window I also ordered myself a set of Takata Seat Belt Pads. Always found belts that sit high on the inside of the car to rub so these work perfectly. Couldn't recommend these enough.



Was then able to get to fitting a set of NRG Bonnet Struts after waiting for them to be shipped over from 'Merica. Again not very difficult to fit. Make the world of difference. Just need to remove the original Bonnet Stay now. Also fitted a BLACK Rocker Cover Dress Up Kit (Can't see it in the photos) but I wasn't a fan of the Chrome/Stainless Steel look.

Check there genuine belts, was a thing on fake Britain last week about the fakes, looked good but under test conditions @ just 50mph the belt mounting points just snapped...

 

I saw that video. Yeah makes you think though about all these people who would rather buy cheap...

It's only the padding that I have bought. Haven't replaced the belts just yet... Need a new seat before I get harnessess
