first off this isn't a for sale thread, looking for advise.

one of my dads workers has had a ford focus st170 for the past year or 2. its now not running properly and a garage has told his its the head gasket. he isn't wanting to sort it and has left it with me to get rid off for him.

couple of questions:

are there any parts on these worth anything? gearbox, wheels, interior etc?

its done around 100k and is standard and grey. not mint condition by any means but its complete and still runs, just not great!

Could you not just change the head gasket and sell the car. I take it the st is a poverty spec one.

 

it really comes down to spec most simply sell these cars complete as spares or repairs, parts are only worth money if good and tried and tested and theres plenty of 170 parts around as I break them, only things like recaros or very good wheels ect are a good seller

 

My experience is there is only a handful of parts that are worth good money. A good engine is one, recaros are another, Imrc units and option parts.

Gearboxes are worth bugger all.

 

ok thanks for the replies. not sure on the spec, what should I check for? I was just going to try sell it complete to get the boy something for it.
