Well after regretting selling my Moonstone 2wd, took the plunge and bought another one. Another resto, must be mad as the memories of doing the last one are flooding back

You keeping it on the Sharktooths? Always liked the look of saphs on them, wish I'd never put my white one on comps and sold the Sharktooths but they wouldn't have gone over my AP's

What spec is it going to be?

 

Just keeping it standard looking to be honest. Its already had a fresh engine build top and bottom. just needs pulling apart and tidying up. Engine spec wise its currently live mapped by MSD to stage 3 with closed loop, so will likely be keeping like that. not going big powere or anything. they seem to be fetching more money in standard form these days so thats the aim.

Little update.
All the underside stripped and taken to the powdercoaters. Eventually found one that wasnt trying to enduce a heart attack in me with the extortionate prices.
Should have everything back next week.

 

have you not tried betta blast in new York mate?
he's done all of mine and he's always been reasonable.

 

Yeah thats where I went I have no doubt he is top notch, he did my mates Capri bits and they were spot on, about as good as ive seen, but at 4x the price that I ended up paying.

 

1st chassis leg repaired. not that bad.

 

gearbox cleaned, degreased and painted.

 

Cracking job that matey. Its hard to see the rusty chassis legs with the beam in the way sometimes.

 

yeah, i sometimes think its the best way to buy them. id hate to pay 12k plus for a one and find out its rotten. My last one was a rolling shell as well. looked mint underneath but the legs were still rotten. At least i know when its back on its wheels its all been done.

 

Defo matey. When i get the bodywork on my saff done. When he cut the bit of rot out of the sill i was so suprised to see the inner sill was rotton.

So these so called cars that dont have rust on them,how do they know the inner sills arnt rotton. Which to me is the strength of the car is.

 

Daft question but you dont have any spare straight rear bumpers do you.

Little update.

All the underside parts are back from the power coaters. Beam, Both ARB's rear arms, brake shields, fuel pump cradle and springs all done gloss black.





Make a start on the brakes, new sliders, rubbers and bleed nipples.



rear driveshafts stripped ready for refurb and new boot kits.

 

They all go there lol and the ones that haven't yet I bet the owners would be gutted if they put a bore scope down there lol. Top work

Thats the last of the bits off for powder coating and all the nuts and bolts dropped off to be Zinc Plated. Front crossmember was damaged from a stray driveshaft at some
point. managed to get a replacement which is pretty much as new.



Onto the leather whilst im waiting. Sure ive got some Gliptone Left over somewhere.

First lot of parts back from the metal finishers. zinc coated nuts n bolts and power steering pipes.

 

Got the rest of the bits back from Powder coaters today.
Front Auxilary mountings have been done silver alone with the rear driveshafts. Gearbox cradle has been redone black. Didnt really need it but hell, everything else is new so why not



I have left the boot clips off as i was in two minds whether to have the plated gold zinc to match the driveshaft bolts and washers.

 

Bling bling. They look well.

 

Cheers. made a start on the exhaust system today. forgot to take a before shot fo the back box but the whole system was pretty mucgh like this. Covered in tarnish and road tar.



Back box after 1.5 hours of fine wire wool and alloy cleaner.



First pass with a machine and polish

Before and after pics from the exhaust system looks like... real real hard work i know it's not finished yet. But keep this up mate.


All the little parts are class to, detail is everything.

Gonna be a stunner!

centre section came up ok as well. shame about the the mild steel hangers, youd have thought they would do them stainless as well the tight arses.

Looking really good this, love the clean up of the exhaust, good tips there.
