Default Ticking noise

Hi I have a Ford Focus estate 55 plate diesel which makes a ticking noise, but it only does it when you are driving it kicks in when you put your foot down so I can't see and listen to where it's coming from unless I drive down the road with someone sat under the bonnet lol it's also sluggish but I think the turbo needs sorting again and isn't connected to the noise as when the turbo was fine the car still made the noise. It's baffling me because it only does it when driving anyone have any ideas on what it could be or where I could start?

High Pressure pump starting to fail as an initial guess but could be a few things such as a tensioner on the aux belt or cam belt or the waterpump.
Is it definitely from the engine and not the transmission

Thanks for replying, I'm 99.9% sure it's not coming from the transmission, I shall have the Other suggestions checked out
