So, i've just fitted the airtec front mount intercooler on my s2, it's supposed to fit with no problems on 90's spec bumper, but it was a pain to fit so the bumper could come back on??

AND.. the fans between the rad and cooler makes an awfull noise when they are turned on?

What could be the problem???

Thats correct it'll fit with ease for a 90 spec bumper. Expect to fit bonnet pins if you find the catch 'catches' the intercooler, either way its a tight fit between the bonnet and the intercooler.

You can chop the catch if you want though.

Also the fans should be free from the rear of the intercooler otherwise you'll grind a hole into it.

Did you move the radiator back. make sure you have at least 10mm/1cm gap between the turbo(actuator bracket I think) and the radiator. When you fit the Intercooler ensure its fit as far to the left as possible(drivers side for you). Providing you have a good fitment you'll keep the front looking standard.

People will disagree wth me on this, but IMO the fans need to go in the front, please have a look at the link of how I did mine, I promise it's the best results for cooling.

Runs a standard and never gets anywhere near over heating and not a signed mod to bumper, bonnet catch etc needed.

Hi mate I have been having similar issues now I'm running a full front mount on my s2 can I ask what size the foam was as that's my next plan to get the temp down. Very good idea that mate.

If your car is still together, rig the fans up and fell the amount of air that comes out of th sides before you fit the tape and retry it after, you'll be surprised.

Do you leave the fans on all the time then? Odd bolting a unit in front of the cooler that will block an amount of air flow works out better

 

I currently have the fans in between the rad and intercooler but the gap is huge so I think this may work for me. If the gap between the cooler and rad is sealed with this foam then the air has no way to go but through the radiator so it shouldn't make any difference if the fans are on the intercooler.
