Question Intermittent no crank no start. Faulty relay?

Hi there,

My car has developed an intermittent no crank no start fault where when I try and start the car I get all lights but nothing happens when I hold the key to the start position. The car will start when I either try a few more times or if I hold the key in the start position for about 5 or so seconds.

I think this would indicate a faulty relay as the car cranks and starts first time normally and this problem is intermittent.

I have looked in the passenger glove box at the relays and the start inhibit relay has the following numbers:

2S7T 14B192 AA and V23136 B1 X66.

A quick Google and it seems that it may be the same relay as 5M5T 14B192CA but I can't be certain.

I can only seem to find used relays on eBay and I would probably rather get a new relay but I don't want to go to ford as they will probably charge 3X the normal price. Does anyone know where I can get a new relay from?

Thanks

James

Can you turn on your head lights? and if so are they bright or dull. This is just to determine the condition of the battery. It's a process of elimination really.

The headlights are fine and the battery is in good condition as I tested it about a month ago. When the engine does turn over it starts up fine and there are no battery lights on. Voltage is good too.
