When I took my head off my engine I borrowed a ground down socket off a mate. There was very little room

I've used a turned down socket without issues.
You really need to have the socket turned down so it only just fits in, keep as much meat on it as possible.

My mates just been through this the newer long stud kits are now using a bigger nut (19mm i think) and you really need to machine the head out, only way to get off is to keep trying with the machined down sockets.

Try machining down a multi point socket not a 6 side.

Lol, at least we know what the previous owner should have fitted.

Good to know for putting it back together though
