Unhappy Speedo fault with Fiesta 2004 - UPDATE

Hello Guys,

I have an issue with my 2004 Fiesta 1.3. Speedo started to drop to zero during driving but after a while it jumped back to same speed value shown before.
This symptom became worse and worse now since a month it is totally failed no speed display at all and odometer shows _ _ _ _ _ _.

I have read many forum topics about that issue and I found that it is a known or at least frequent failure of some Ford models.

What I did to try solve the problem
  • I have replaced the speed sensor but nothing changed.
  • Fuses checked - all the related ones seems OK.
  • I tried to check fault code via OBD port and I find P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction still after sensor replacement
The interesting thing here is that via OBD port and android phone speed display is fine so for me it means that sensor is OK and PCM module is OK. (Or are OBD and gauge got sign from different location. It seems illogical for me)

I would like to ask your help as I try to avoid useless money spending.

What to check next? Can the dashboard be faulty? Should I try to replace only the gauge? Or can it happen that any PCM connector has any fault?

I am confused just because via OBD everything is fine...

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Gaben

PS: Sorry for any mistake in english as I am not native

I have talked with a guy who is working for Ford and his suggestion was to go out from town (I am standing still in town traffic jam in the 99% of my driving time ) and push it it worth a try.

I can not find a logical reason but it definitely works. Speedo just jumped up suddenly, there is mileage display as well. It was some days before and since then everything looks fine.

So in case you have same issue go out to the highway and make it awaken...
