Not happy, AT ALL
Got a baileys dump valve fitted last night and so told my insurance about it this morning. They then said that they didnt do "modified cars" and no longer could continue my policy!
I tried another company in distress (having no insurance!) and they quoted my £400 more because of the dump valve.
My option is to take it off - but I REALLY sont want to do that.
Does anybody know who will insure me, im 18 next week and would be willing to wait til then I suppose

I AM INSURANCELESS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FEEL SICK looking out my window and seeing this gleaming white angel staring back at me, I really am deeply in love with the car, I want to have it forever!

julia, just ring up your insurance company up and tell em you have taken it of,
i very much doubt that even if you were unlucky enough to have a shunt,
they would not pick up on it, i have not declared any of my mods, but i am 3PFT
so aint that fussed,
my mate crashed his clio, did not declare his 17s, exhaust, light mods and still
got paid out,
you will be ok

Because what if I smash into a 60grand porshe and the insurance wont pay out because I didnt claim my "mod"

and just dont bother telling them, if you have it fitted when you slap into another car, just yank it off pronto...
and even if you didnt, no one is would really notice it...
lets not shit the bed about a dump valve....
its hardly a mod at all.... sometimes you can be too honest...
Remove the Dump valve. Cut about 2" off the end of your Broom Handle and put it in where the Dump Valve came out. Tighten Jubilee Clamp. Block off the Vacuum Hose. Job Done.
In lieu of the Broom Handle and a much better bet would be a new hose, or failing that a proper DV Blank, which Bailey make.

Okay you have told your insurance company that you had a dump valve on just tell them now you have taken it off. Get a 1 inch blanking cover from most performance car places like demon tweeks and blank it off. Or keep it on and take it off if you ever get involved in a accident. You only have to worry about declaring mods if you have big mods like intercoolers, exhausts, engine work.
1) If you were planning on modding the car you should have checked with the Insurance company that the policy they were providing you would be sufficient!
2) Take it off, they sound terrible anyway and the car will run better without it!

Cant believe they canceled your insurance over a poxy dump valve. Cant you say you have taken it off & get re insured wiv them?? I havent declared mine. Its such a pony mod that i didnt even think of telling them.

christ al this top advice, you just seem aderment of causing urself greif (and not listernin), u wanna drive the car as u were take it off, you wanna have a d/v put up with the cost or tell em u took it off
worst comes to worst you crash into sumthin u wont get a appraisal for a few weeks neways so you have all that time to get another pipe and drop down to the place its stored and swap it over (if you are insured tpft or FC, if u wait then u'd recver it privatly and u can dissapear as much as you like at your convenience)
and that the very worst case i can see
also what boost you runnin and what else does you car have on it?
its a rst if it aint had sumthin modded over the years it'll be a rare old thing
i reckon u should should ring them back up and tell them that you have removed it. If you do ever have an accident (God forbid), as said, take it off...i might have an old set of standard boost hoses that you can have (just cover P+P) and all you will have to do is undo the jubilee clips on either side of the hose and replace with a standard hose...

so many people have conflicts about dump valves. its good for your car? bad for your car? i think you cant beat the sound of a dump valve. esp when you start over taking some1 in a shitty done up car and they here the sound wizzing pass them. Thats one good thing about havin a turbo all the nice sounds it makes
