Default Front diff gone or shafts? 4x4 saph

Got a strange sqeeky rubbery noise as soon as car starts rolling in gear or not like somethings rubbing, from osf wheel.

Also when driving down a road with central resovation it sounds a bit like when u put a twig up against a bike wheel when its spinning, untill i let off the throttle then noise goes still sounds like osf wheel

And at work i stuck it on 2 post ramp and got someone in the car, all 4 wheels spin, then osf stops after a couple of seconds, even with throttle applied and doesnt seem to be any noise

Anyone shed any light?

Doesnt seem to be anything rubbing or play in bearings etc

Sort of sounds like the out cv joint may be on its way out or a cv boot is on wrong causing the sound off squeeze rubber so to speak. If I'm right you might see one wheel stop cause if there isn't any force on the diff it won't give true visual looks as it were. Might be wrong on that.

Another thing it might be noise wise, have you checked the clearance of the exhaust downpipe to the front prop shaft??

I had a similar noise to the stick in the bike wheel you mentioned. Can't remember which one, but one of the cv joint cup/tripods had shat itself. Also worth checking your engine mounts too...

On 4wd Sierra's the things to check are as follows

Front prop
Near side drive shaft
Off side drive shaft
Front diff

In that order are the most common faults

Also, the wheel that normally stops is the NSF

Checked the clearence of prop and exhaust. Its tight but about 6 mm so its not fouling that, also checked engine mounts there all ok aswell.

The clicky sound does sound like cv joint i must admit but what gets me is the noise goes when i let the throttle off

Might just bite the bullet and get diff and shaft, as my diff is leaking oil out of seal anyway and i rounded of drain plug by mistake lol

How hard is it to change a diff? I dont plenty of rears but not front lol

Fronts are a nightmare
Essentially you have to remove the crossmember because otherwise it doesn't fit out of the hole
