I took my 2wd Saff out today for a drive and to charge up the battery, luckily no salt on the roads here. Its the first time for about 3 weeks Ive driven it and with the freezing temperature today it even suprised me how fast it was. I am used to its 450 bhp but I am sure it had an extra 20 bhp today,it just loves the cold!!
Anyone else been out today and did you notice how well your car went?

We measured the same car in the winter and in the summer.
The difference in temperature was 40 degrees Celsius.
We found a 10% difference in the power output.
So yes, a turbo car likes cold weather.
But not driving the car for 3 weeks also helps a little bit.

As I said it wasnt my imagination the other day when I was out in mine, it took me by suprise and I am well used to it.When I came out of a 50mph zone onto a dual carrigeway I was in third and planted it and it felt like I was still in second the way it leaped forward!! It was about 2 degrees at the time. I use mine during the Winter but the trouble is now we have had some really cold nights the gritters have been out so no more fun now until it warms up a bit and we have some more rain to clean the roads again.

Hi Glenn its just a case of choosing your days in Winter, when its dry and there is no salt on the roads get out in it and enjoy it. Its the only time when my heater gets used and they are excellent and simple to use. Its got a better heater than my daily Renault Laguna with its so called climate control!

There are several standards to correct hp figures measured at dyno's.
Why not play around with them and see what correction factors you get when you put in temperatures of -10 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius.

Must admit my st definitely seems to spool up better this time of year and I know for a fact all the rst's I've had adored the autumn months..
Its not surprising really as we all know the process of fuel/air delivery/mixing but to those who have never experienced this little added bonus its just a myth.

I always have the heaters on in the cossie. It keeps the heat out of the engine and might help it from not overheating lol. Only joking.
Standard practice on drift cars! BMWs especially as their cooling systems are so dismal! Genuinely does help having them on full blast with the windows down as much as allowed.
