Usually 4 to 6 weeks.

Would be easier to knock 25 quid off the asking price and get the new owner to apply for it.

Just be sure to write a receipt both ways with date and time of purchase.

Sorted.

Takes around 6 weeks if you've bought a car with no v5 as they have to send a letter to the registered keeper and wait a period of time for a response from them if they haven't sold the car etc. If you've just lost it and the cars registered to you it shouldn't take more than the usual 2 weeks like when u buy a car and change keeper details

Pisses me off this I bought a car no log book it was cheap and I got more than Ł25 quid off I knocked Ł300 off as I knew it was gonna be a pain. It took 8 weeks and I could not tax the car or use it in this time due to the ref number needed. Saying that when you pay Ł80 to put or take a private plate off it took 2 days for the v5 to arrive had I known it was going to take 8 week I would of got the seller to apply and gave him the Ł25 when he gave me the v5 never would I buy a car with no v5 again especially with the stupid tax laws.
