Hoping someone can shed some light on this so i can work out a way forward...
2004 1.8 petrol Mondeo.
Sometimes the car is hard to start, takes a while cranking and eventually kicks in, sometimes with a bit of throttle. Does always start in the end.
Now If when i turn the car off, as i switch off i press the accelerator to the floor, the car will ALWAYS start on the button the next time I go to start.
So by opening the throttle as the car shuts down, what is this doing and what do I need to do? Would it be a release (EGR?) valve not clearing the inlet/throttle body?
I have read on forums about the accelerator pedal as you turn off trick as it seems a common problem....just no one has said why!
Many thanks

Check the manifold flap control hasn't come off. Look under the hose between the air box and inlet. You will see a yellow ball valve with a clip thing on top. I had a mk3 mondeo a few years ago and the clip kept coming off making it a bit hesitant at times.
