Default My garage/workshop tidy up

I've just got to the point with my 16ftx20ft workshop where enough is enough
It's become a dumping ground since we moved in
It's always been kept usable to keep a car in or work on a car, but the lack of light and breeze block walls has finally done me in

How it was when we moved in back in April 2014

Led security light was fitted to the front, and the front of the garage outside was painted the same colour as the house, we've still yet to finish painting the other walls...

Just the normal mancave jobs...

So over the next few weeks plans are to paint all the internal walls white

Add new LED lighting

Board outer ceiling area out in marine ply so I can store more stuff in the roof space

Also put up a free kitchen wall unit I was given
Base has been painted with the same white as the walls
Doors will get sprayed some sort of metallic grey in the week when I get chance

There's more units available if I need anymore

The double garage wants a re-jig to make it more usable... It's fine for storing cars, but there not easy to get in and out for daily use due to the way the utility has been boarded out and stairs into the loft room...

Only had 3 hours spare this afternoon

Got abit done though, removed unwanted hooks, nails
Moved everything out the way then to paint
Breeze block is a pain to paint but it's looking good
Some might notice the wall unit doors have gone back on, alittle brighter than first planned, but will do for now... May invest in new doors

Nice garage and I like your progress on it so far. The placement of the lights doesn't seem very efficient though, and they seem obscured by the joists. I would get some led lighting fitted instead of those incandescent lights.

New lighting is mentioned in the first post
Walls painted first
Ceiling in and painted
Then lights

Time does go quicker as your older

That evo looks lovely, nice colour as well.

Get the ceiling boarded up and use it as storage for extra space

That's the plan... will get painted white to help reflect the light too

The Evo was here for a detail... not mine, cleaned up ok but had had a lot of bad paint over the years, so was detailed with care

I've been sorting a few jobs on the A3 over the last few weeks since selling our daily Vectra... I've cursed the old lightning so while off I've Christmas I've had to make time to get the new stuff up... Wish it hadn't taken a year to get round to doing... but it's done now, onto the next job I suppose

Great progress, you can't beat a good tidy up in the garage, looks so much neater.Your garage looks so much cleaner with the walls painted and the lighting, good work.

While Halfords have got a few bundle deals on, I've decided to treat myself to a new tool box... I wanted the green, but as it's not available I've had to settle for orange... Should help with tidying up in the garage

Looks awesome with that light in there. My dream to have a decent sized garage/workshop at home. Toolbox looks nice mate and looks fairly deep too!

The other 4 lights are up, will hopefully get 5 minutes to wire them up over weekend. Been getting rid of stuff, having a re-jig about... getting there slowly

We've just had scaffolding put up last week... All ready for a new roof on the house now.

Added 4 more lights in the garage, so that's 11 4ft lights on the ceiling, 5 4ft & 2 2ft on the walls

I would love a garage like that. Just someplace to work out of when it's this cold. Do you have a space heater tho
