Default Have you owned a White ST200?

I have a request for help

I'm a bit of a data freak with regards to the number of ST200's that were built and I believe have the most accurate information available.

I started my obsession with the simple task of answering two of the most frequent questions about the 200.

"What number is my LE?" and "How many white ones were there?"

Well the answers are, the numbers, if sent out with the cars, were issued at random and 66.

What I'm after now is any history or information of any white ST200's that any of you fine people have owned or do own.

In particular any photo's would be lovely, registrations, and vague memories of your mate's sister's boyfriend's car.

Of course if you still own one and don't want to divulge any info, then don't, but a PM with a reg number would be nice just so I know.

According to DVLA there are 22 Hatchbacks and 6 Estates still on their books.

Also does anyone recognise this phot/car?

One last little teaser, did you know that the some of the estates in Europe were also built as LE's?

Nope!

Me neither...

I thought the white ones were ex police? Google the registration plate you might see a video of it on road wars doing 150mph over speed bumps lol

Originally only available to the police weren't they? They do look good in white and if I'm right they were made at the end of the mk2 production run so there are/were a few about on a 51 plate. Sorry I cant help with your original question though.

They were ordered for the police, but as sometimes happen, the order was cancelled. Some had or would make it into service, some didn't.

They were offered to the public or taken on as Ford Company Cars, and this is where things get a little strange.

When these cars were built it was supposedly without the front seats. So they had fronts seats fitted depending on the size of the wallet doing the buying.

Police and the none wealthy had standard cloth seats. Flush people had Mk2 Ghia leather fronts, people who were sensible had the ST200 Recaros put in. I have also seen one with Ghia X Mk3 Front Seats!!

There is however an anomaly with this theory. My car had seats from the factory as the VIN label was on the runners! Well that's an assumption on my part but does hold true on the whole.

Anyway, the white cars can have an unusual combination of seatage!!

As for the production, they did I suppose in relative terms, come towards the end of production. The only UK cars after the white ones were the LE's and 4 Blue hatchbacks!!

European cars, all variants, were a plenty though.

There are W, X, Y and 51 plated White 200s.

That's very true but it won't stop me finding out and hence making as accurate as possible, what data I have.

But with only 66 to start with the numbers hidden won't be massive

I had one on a W plate. It was an ex police car with the IRS Nottingham calibrated clock and black door handles. I had this in 2003 and from memory come from Staffordshire.
When I worked for Peoples of Liverpool they obtained a few that apparently come from Ford cheap. They had no radio or leather Recaro seats (mine did) When sold the customer had the option of either take the car as it was or add the front seats and radio. These had Essex plates on as they had come from Ford and displayed EN prefix and not the M prefix that we used for Manchester.

Thank you for the info Chris.

I have 4 W registrations for these cars, W744TCE, W848UCE, W484RFX and W991OCC, all hatchbacks.

I too had heard about the radios but not enough to confirm it.

EN is the most prevalent of the registrations, with a few EK's in there too.

I also remember mine had a sticker on the drivers B post saying SVP for parts call SVP with a telephone number. All the shock absorbers had SVP on with a chrome type sticker and a sticker on the drivers side of the centre console saying "caution modified suspension. Careful when unlaiden"

From the dials there was a small red wire it was routed from the irs clock plug to where the radio should of been.

The head lining had a console fitted so the front light was in a different place and it gained a pair of extra lights to point in each rear seats.

On the steering column under the indicator stalk there was a extra stalk to flick on and off for the two way radio during a chase etc.

Interesting stuff Chris, mine didn't make it to the SVP process but it does have the calibrated dials.

Don't suppose you can remember any of the registration number?

Tulliallan Police College had a Ford ST200 demo in white with leather rear seats and cloth fronts.
The instructors found me examining it in a car park because I worked for a FoMoCo company at the time and didn't know the white ones existed.
I was then invited to the college and had a very interesting evening getting a demo drive in a traffic car, a shot on the Comparator skid car, and a demo of anti-hijack/terrorism driving with j-turns and stuff.

I'm am using it as my daily car ATM but Iv got my mk3 Mondeo sitting there doing nothing. I don't know if it was an ex police car or just a training vehicle

W848 UCE was my car. I bought it 7 months old done 2,000 miles from Blackbushe car auctions in 2001. I had the roof lining replaced and roof painted as for holes. New radio (6000 CD) from a Ford breakers. It was amazing I was just 21 and it was the absolute nuts. The front seats were half leather zetec sport seats. Not the full recaros. Loved it.
