Default Cosworth oil pickup pipes

Is there a difference in them between the 2wd and 4wd?

Reason i ask is that my 2wd sump looks to have a circular mark in the bottom of it from the pickup pipe. (sorry no pic a present).
So my pickup must be VERY VERY close to the base of the sump, to the point where i would have thought it would restrict flow and potentially sunction to the bottom.

Do 4wd pickups go deeper? Thinking i may have the incorrect one..

thanks

Can you fit them wrong as well? Mate of mine did his sump gasket and some how ended up with the pick up pipe to close to the sump oil starved it and ended up needing a new crank shaft

Dave you can use a 4x4 pick up on a 2wd sump but they need be bending slightly to stop the issue you have mentioned. Loader had the same issue and it trashed the big ends, this could well be what's happened to yours mate.

Yeah it could have contributed.
Just dug out my original std pump and pickup, and the pickup is a few mm higher.
I'll put this pickup back on.

Always a learning curve cossie ownership

Nightmare so it could of been this pipe which had caused the damge to the engine.

When I wanted to fit a 4x4 pump and pick up pipe to my 2wd sumped engine I made a sort of jig to check the positioning of the pick up pipes to compare 2wd with 4x4 and apart from a slight mod to the JG baffle to all seamed to line up ok
