I did see one sell for Ł1500 on fleabay but I can't believe someone would actually pay that for one..?!

I know the suggestion for a 2wd is to use a 4x4 one and get a different hose

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2207430411...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

but how does it work for a 3dr as the 3dr uses the same tank as the 2wd but the 2wd has the sensor thing blocked off?

I'd say a really good condition one would set you back Ł150+

Not a chance of finding a decent, clean, non bloated one for under Ł400 and even then it will have visible splits and cracks and a new one would be Ł1k plus if you could find one that is.

If its not a show car better off using a new 4x4 one from ebay for Ł70 odd quid, they look the part and I can sell you the proper Ford rubber hose to connect it for Ł25

The reason I ask is I have a non bloated non stained one! Don't know if it's worth keeping or selling as I have a Bailey header on mine

I put a 4x4 one on my 3door when I had it
I used a bolt in tyre vavle to make a union for the standard turbo hose
Then removed the metal tube from the lower 16mm outlet machined down a 3door water level sensor so it was a tight fit bonded it in with a nice stainless hose clip round the bottle outlet just to make sure it didn't come out
Looked pretty neat
Cheers Tim.

the standard header tanks are shit anyway as they expand and split. Better off using a stainless header tank.

But then again i've never been into standard cars

Why? when you know the header tank will split eventually. They only look good whilst they are clean.

I would be using a stainless item and keep the standard header tank for when you do decide to sell it.

You can get stainless steel ones with a fluid level sight glass.

Yeah this is why I've never fitted a stainless one as I like to see all my levels at a glance. Mind u I can understand the metal ones being stronger but I just like the standard tanks

it only takes two secs to open the cap and check the coolant or get one with a sight glass.

As soon as you run any decent boost the sytem pressurises and the bottle expands - fuck that

When I bought mines it had a horrid chrome baileys one with no sight and when I slackened the lid to look inside there was no coolant in the bottle so bought a brand new plastic one from eBay instead. Looks better imo it does swell up on hard driving but I'll try a swirl pot to see if that helps.

I dont think a swirl pot made much difference to mine hence going ally in the end

Lol yeah I know mate, the heat generated in some of these high boost cars I don't expect plastic tanks would last 5 minutes, especially 1980s plastic
