Ive always wanted a 3dr since I was a kid! Also a mk2 escort but I would never pay that amount of money for a car! Happy enough having my money in my properties! Each to their own though
Looks a really nice car.

Buyers set the price Dojj, if they aren't willing to buy at a price the prices must drop
Supply and demand, there's no conspiricy by 'them' to drive up prices
All cars are going crazy lately, the good ones with history and originality even more so
I would say personally that with interest rates so low and the economy not that strong that investors have driven the market for classic cars as a whole, this will change and the market will crash it's just a case of when and how much once

No I was joking, if you look a bit further down I put I wouldn't pay that much. My sig was my rs500 which I sold about 5 years ago for 17k

I got a 3dr in White now with 73k from new, full history and pretty much original with dealer stickers will in window. Had that valued at 28750

Yeh bit gutted, but at the time it was the right money. I'll hold on to the 3dr for a few years, and see what happens then. Gonna try and get a saffy too next year. Feel like being greedy! Lol
Back in the 80s I sold a mint Lotus Cortina and a mint V6 Uren Savage 1600e for peanuts compared to what they would be worth now but at the time there were loads around and they were nothing special. How times have changed!!

In 1988 a bloke at school bought an rs3100 Capri for £200
Well, his brother bought it when was 17, but couldn't insure it so sold it on
There's one for sale now for £35k

The most important thing is did you enjoy the time you had with your 3 door? The trouble is nowadays a lot of people are not buying cars to enjoy them but mainly as investments.

If your going to cash in now is the time , if they go up anymore buyers will be super fussy and want 100% mint examples .
I sold mine for 14.5k last year and guess its a 20k motor now, im not pissed best thing I ever did .

But what I'm saying is that u wouldn't get another in same condition and mileage for less than that, so by guaranteeing a value at least if anything happened I could afford another.
have past this link on to a mate, whose mate has a 65k original moonstone, except stainless pipe car sitting in a garage, that's moted every year. he doesn't have the internet, so no idea on current value currently!
You are doing the right thing as you have to take into account where would you get another car the same as yours if it is stolen or written off and what would it cost if you had to get one and rebuild it up to the same standard.
