Default Reliant Scimitar SS1 Hill Climb Car

This is my Scimitar SS1 that I have prepped for Hill Climbing and Sprinting. The car runs a ford CVH, Type 9 gearbox, and ford 7" diff so this forum looks like a goldmine of info.

I am in the process of building a new engine. The current engine is a stock CVH 1600 bottom end, big valve head, CVH 33 cam, solid lifters, uprated single valve springs, a tubular exhaust manifold, and a pair of 40DCNFs, but i'm worried about the stress on the bottom end, and I'm suffering fuel and oil surge so am in the process of building a new engine.

The plan is to switch to EFI, using standalone management (Omex or similar) and a CVH XR3i EFI inlet manifold and single TB, which will hopefully be nice and reliable, pull well from low down, and still give good power (aiming for around 140hp). Internals are at the machine shop at the moment, and I'm currently in the process of sourcing the EFI parts.

Awesome use of the trusty CVH.

I'm having a 400 bhp cvh built for my track rs turbo, that uses a black top 2l bottom end. Have you got to stay at 1600cc ?

The oil pump is far better on these engines, like you said with the efi mani and the exhaust manifold it should make for a nice little engine.

Car looks great too

Thanks. The car runs in modified production class (as set by the MSA) and therefore the engine block must remain the same type as standard, but modifications to it are free, as are cylinder head and induction. CC can increase, my brothers SS1 runs a 1900 CVH, but some clubs like to run a 1401-2000cc class, whilst others run a 1401-1800cc class, so I going over 1800cc risks getting put in an 1800cc + class with all the big stuff and turbo cars.

I also wanted to stay CVH for now as the majority of SS1's in competition are running nissan 1800 turbo (CA18 ET and DET) engines, and there was a bit of a stigma that there wasnt any point in competeing in the lower powered (and low HP potential) 1600 CVH, so I have got a bit of a point to prove for the under dog!

In the long run, I'm tempted to hang a turbo on the side of the CVH, but the first mission is to get it running on EFI.

Cheers Chaps!

Its not road legal anymore, no lights etc so its on an MSA log book. All the lights etc went in favor of weight saving and simplicity - down to 730kg all in. I used to use it on the road in its previous guise, and it was great fun.
