I've just bought a genuine weber 3 bar map sensor off fleabay. It says it has been tested and is in perfect working order. how can i check this for myself? I fitted it straight away and tested the car. And it is backfiring under load. Worse then the brands hatch 3 bar map sensor i had on before hand.
The code on the side of the sensor is SPA05/01 1769 if that means anything to anyone.

Is your engine mapped for a 3 bar ? Else the scaleing will be all wrong

 

Does it actually have Marelli Autronica embossed on the front?
SPA don't sound Like Weber to me, can you post a photo up?

 

SPA was the start of the part number on the later genuine ones

 

sounds like you have a dodgy map sensor mate.

try and get a genuine one of borrow one off another owner to make sure it is that part at fault
