I am selling a car on Ebay, its only worth a few hundred quid.

There are a few bids and the auction ends tomorrow. All was going well but the highest bidder has zero feedback. I am a bit worried about this as been told stories of people messing about on Ebay when it comes to selling a car. Shall I message the highest bidder and ask if he is 100% interested or just leave it till the auction ends?

 

If he wins give him 24 hours, if no contact then cancel the sale and put in a 2nd chance offer to the next highest bidder.

 

If he's going to mess you about do you think he'll admit to it if you message him?

All you can do is let it run really, if no contact give the next highest a second chance.

A tip for the future, put a note in your adverts that anyone with less than 5 feedback should contact you before bidding or their bid will be cancelled. That way you can weed out the messes a bit easier

It just helps to whittle down the time wasters on there and stops them from bidding, if somebody really wants it they will message you if they find they can't bid

Seems a lot more ppl are turning to gumtree to sell on there instead

 

Can you believe it.....The winning bidder messaged me within 2 minutes of the auction saying this......

 

file a non payment thingy with ebay to get back your fees, and for the sort of money that car will fetch just do a buy it now or classified as mentioned to save aggro

What a friggin' bellend! I'm going through a non payment dispute at the moment over a mobile phone I sold and the guy is pissing me about... Does annoy me as 90% of the time eBay works really well but the messers are really beginning to spoil it for me.

Most stuff me and the Mrs sell go on the local Facebook selling page, everything we have put on there is usually gone in a couple of days. People buy some utter shite too lol

 

The thing I like about eBay though is quite often I sell things for far more that I would have the nerve to put it up. Some folk payday over the odds.

not the worst crime in the world, but if hes new to it, managed to enter a figure, then click bid, then on the next screen click confirm, without realising then, putting them down is the best option for the world

I usually have quite a bit of luck with selling stuff on some of the FB pages, but some joker messaged me today and asked me if I could drive the car over to France which I am selling and he will pay for my expenses, yeah right, of course he will, he's already said he's on a budget, so will probably want it for peanuts. I can't believe the cheek of some people, and it's not even definite he will have the car either!

 

Just had the same selling an old Saab 900, listed it no less than 6 times and had a similar message every time, the worst was a message saying he would collect at the end of the week due to work, no worries I thought, he even sent messages through the week confirming collection, at the end of the week he went silent and never collected.

never again, sold it classified within 2 days but made a loss of Ł50, no probs I just needed it gone.

 

Whenever a zero rated or newly registered bidder was on one of my listings I would remove the bid and block them from bidding again , If they are genuinely interested they should contact you to ask why you did that ,But I have come to realise that classified adverts are a much better way of selling something than an auction on ebay and I now have also realised that facebook is better and much safer than ebay if you are a seller as the biased ebay rules and regulations means with selling on ebay the odds are stacked against you if your buyer turns out to be dishonest or just an arse and you put your self at risk of losing your items and money as well as your reputation and your time

 

gumtree, i sell everything on there and have never had any bother.

 

gumtree, when I sold 2x cars earlier this year there wern't even any fees for basic adverts

 

What's to stop someone buying loads of 99p items to rack up their rep?
