Default Injectors-turbo help

Hi all I want some advice from people who have been here & done it.....

I've got a saph cos 4x4 running 336bhp at mo on standard T3, greens, RS 500 cooler-rad, group A air filter, samcos, 3bar, msd chip, msd new wiring loom, 044 fuel pump, msd wring loom to pump, group A head gasket, breather system, etc

I've got a brand new T34/63 & a set of Siemens 55lb injectors to go on, it will b going to msd to get it all fitted & set up.

But
1. Is it worth doing, ie how will it drive different , coming on boost etc as I drove it round with a stage 1 270bhp for 12 years & when msd did the stage 3 I couldn't believe the difference!! In fact I still buzz off it 2 years on....

2. Will I need anything else doing to the engine while its there?? As it's the original engine totally standard apart from the above (62.000) original miles, will it need long studding? As I've already spoke to gears about the gearbox upgrade & quife rear diff, front has strengthened plate in & he said that will b fine. Sorry 4 all the questions but I'd like to hear off people who have been here & done it maybe regretted it & so on....? I will talk to stu obviously but I'd like a bit of feed back 1st.
Cheers Lee

Hi sounds like you have a great drivable car as it is! I would only change the spec if the turbo went and had a new T34 sitting there. I would then use a 48 housing instead of the 63 and run less boost for the same 336 bhp you have at present. Keeping the 803 (Greens) and leaving the gearbox alone.

Cheers.

Tim.

Im on Siemens 55lb injectors with a Turbo Technics T35.55, peaks @32 psi and was holding 28 psi, i say was holding 28 psi because ive had to turn boost down to 24 psi due to my AP organic clutch slipping.I wouldnt say it was overly if at all laggy. But to answer your question its defo worth doing, really puts a smile on your face. My cars a 2wd though.

I'd say your T3 must be doing its bolloxs. Achieving that amount of power from at T3 is impressive. Changing your injectors and turbo I'd say you will see about 370 bhp it will feel a little more laggy but it will be stronger in higher gears, 3 gear will feel a lot stronger as the T3 runs out of puff. Gearbox should be fine I ran 415bhp and was ok. It's the hard launching that kills them.

You've not stated how you drive, road car at a guess, no hard launching etc. this will determine turbo specs too

Lucky man having a t34.63 and seimens blacks ready to go they don't come up forsale very often I'm going this route this year so glad you've asked this question, some say it's laggy others say it's fine. I don't mind a bit of lag so I'm gonna give it a try.

Ditch the big rear housing and go t34.48 to keep it responsive.

my engine is std, no internal mods, apart from a group a head gasket. gearbox is std.
similar spec to you with hoses, alloy rad, 500 cooler, 023 intank pump, 3 bar, kn cone filter, -31 actuator, fuel pump rewire, breather system and an electronic boost controller.

Get rid of the .63 rear and go with a .48 there will be a huge difference in lag between a t3 and a t34 .63, I run the same spec 55 blacks, cooler, 4x4 inlet and a t34 .48 it makes 400ft lbs @2900rpm which is a good kick in the arse, if your running a 4x4 exhaust manifold it may come on even quicker.

Running 30psi you may eventually run into head gasket issues.

I'm pleased you replied, I'm the exact same spec, 55lb's, Turbo Technics T35.55 and clutch is slipping at 360bhp at 27psi, I was going to go for an AP organic.

The map was tweaked back from 400 to 360 because of the slip, I was recommended an AP 6 paddle but I'm frightened to put one in, incase it spoils the car

Same boat as me lol, bit indecisive as to whether or not to fit a paddle due to the horror stories people have spoke of. But i must say it was entertaining @32psi. I must say dont go for an AP organic as thats what ive got and it cant take the boost with this conversion.I was told to get ap/Helix paddle six which i will look into in the new year.

Don't go for a complete Ap kit they are very heavy Helix isn't as bad as the Ap, a good compromise for this power level is a helix or Ap paddle plate and a std cover.
